Oxford and Cambridge Placements
With their worldwide reputation for academic excellence, Oxford and Cambridge are generally considered to be the most challenging universities in the UK at which to secure a place. To ensure your child has the best possible chance of success, our Oxbridge Placement Programme offers tailored support through every part of the application process. Simply Learning Tuition has a 60% success rate for first choice course and college, compared to the national average of 16%.
We begin by sharing all the relevant information you need to be able to make an informed decision about which course and college will suit your child best and correspond with their interests, personality and academic goals.
Expert guidance at every stage
We then introduce tutors to help your child with any Oxford and Cambridge entrance tests which may be applicable to their application, including the TSA, CAT, ENGAA, PAT, LNAT, HAT and MLAT. Tutors also assist them in producing an exemplary personal statement and preparing students for the infamous Oxbridge interviews.
For Cambridge placements, tutors help students make the most of their ‘My Cambridge Application’ (formerly known as the SAQ). All the tutors we introduce are Oxbridge educated and many have themselves been on the interviewing panel or admissions team. This gives your child an unparalleled insight into how best to approach this process and arms them with the tools and confidence to achieve success.
If your child is applying to Oxford or Cambridge University and needs additional support, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Our approach to Oxbridge Placements
The key to a successful Oxbridge application is well planned preparation.
Course and college selection
As a first step, we’ll help you make an informed decision about which course and college to apply for. We’ll then introduce a specialist Oxbridge admissions tutor to help your child with their Oxford or Cambridge entrance tests, including the TSA, LNAT, BMAT and CAT.
Researching and writing the personal statement
Tutors will help your child write an exemplary personal statement. This means a statement that doesn’t just ‘tick all the boxes’ – something Oxbridge admissions tutors see straight through – but instead brings out your child’s natural character, passions and refers to all their wider engagement beyond their sixth form academics. For Cambridge placements, tutors help students make the most of their ‘My Cambridge Application’.
The next step is preparation for the infamous Oxbridge interview process. We always advise that students take several mock interviews with a range of tutors, to prepare them for the fact they might be interviewed by a number of colleges. Mock interviews are a wonderful opportunity to practice and get things wrong before it really matters. They’re also a great chance to pick up some helpful tricks for the big day – like the tactical drink of water to give yourself time to think.
About our Oxbridge Placements team
Simply Learning Tuition has helped hundreds of students get into Oxford and Cambridge from a wide range of private and state schools in the UK and around the world. Each family works with a dedicated Oxbridge placement consultant who will arrange specialist tutors and co-ordinate the entire application process. The consultant will be alongside you at all times, to guide and reassure with expert advice and a healthy dose of inspiration.
Each consultant is supported by a team of specialist tutors to help prepare for the admissions tests. The vast majority of these tutors are Oxbridge educated and many have been on the interviewing panel, or worked in admissions, themselves.
I have to acknowledge what a huge part Simply Learning, and more specifically, you, Omari, Tadhgh and Ellie, played in getting me to where I am! I cannot express over email quite how grateful I am, but suffice to say that you guys went above and beyond what an average tutoring agency would ever do, in terms of education and emotional support! My one-on-one sessions with you to tweak my personal statement and the many hours that the tutors put in to perfecting my interview technique and improving my very sub-par maths skills made the world of difference. I am sure of it. A huge, huge thank you to you and your team. You guys are simply fantastic.
