About Me

My approach to tutoring is calm, thoughtful and highly personalised. I place particular emphasis on recognising each child’s individuality, taking time to build trust and gain a clear understanding of their strengths and areas for development. Sessions are then tailored with care and precision, remaining structured yet engaging, whilst combining clear explanation, targeted practice and appropriate challenge. My focus is not only on raising attainment, but on developing confidence, independence and a genuine enjoyment of learning.

My methodology is rooted in diagnostic assessment and responsive teaching. I regularly revisit prior learning, break concepts into manageable steps and adapt my approach to ensure understanding is secure. I am highly flexible in how I teach, adjusting techniques to suit individual needs, whether that involves consolidating foundations, stretching high-ability pupils or responding to different learning preferences. Throughout, I aim to create a supportive, low-pressure environment where pupils feel confident to think, ask questions and take ownership of their learning.

Recent tuition

Early Reading and Phonics (Reception to Year 2)

I began supporting this pupil from Garden House in Reception when she found it tricky to read CVC words or blend sounds. Through regular phonics work and engaging blending games, she developed strong decoding skills and an increasing sight vocabulary. Within six months, she was reading simple books fluently. Now in Year 2, she regularly achieves full marks in spelling tests and I continue to support her with an increasing focus on Mathematics.

Key Stage 1 English and Phonics (EAL, Year 1-3)

I began supporting a Year 1 pupil from Brighton Prep Kensington with a strong focus on early reading, phonics and sentence writing. Sessions incorporated decoding, blending and segmenting, alongside work on English vowel sounds to secure clearer pronunciation. Over six months, the pupil made strong progress in reading accuracy and fluency, spelling and written expression and developed greater confidence as a learner. I continue to work with this pupil to date, my current support extending into other concepts in English, as well as into other curriculum areas, such as Mathematics. This student is now in Year 3.

Key Stage 1–Lower Key Stage 2 Mathematics and English (Years 2–3)

I supported this pupil from the start of Year 2 to the end of Year 3, with a primary focus on Mathematics. We revisited prior learning and secured core number skills through structured, consistent support. Additional work focused on spelling and creative writing. Through clear expectations and a calm, supportive approach, the pupil became more focused and made steady academic progress across both subjects. They eventually moved on from Garden House to an international school in Monaco.

Key Stage 2 English and Geography (Year 4-5)

I started tutoring this student specifically in English and Geography, at the request of his parent. He currently attends Sussex House. We did targeted grammar work, comprehension exercises and regular consolidation. Over a six-month period, the student made steady academic progress, raising grammar test scores from 68% to 94%. We then turned our focus to Geography and through the use of engaging projects, we not only improved his Geography performance — with the student regularly achieving 100% in short assessments and receiving Geography awards; a significant improvement from an initial overall score of 44% — but also sparked a genuine enthusiasm for the subject.

Key Stage 2 Mathematics (Year 5–6)

This student from Garden House School required support consolidating mathematical foundations and applying methods accurately. I focused on step-by-step modelling, revisiting prior learning and developing problem-solving strategies. Within six months, the student’s accuracy and confidence improved significantly, particularly in formal methods of calculation, and Maths became a subject they approached more positively. I continue to support this pupil and recently learned that, following our work together, she secured a place at St Mary’s Ascot.

High-Ability Key Stage 2 English Enrichment

This student was high-achieving, though her written work did not initially reflect her full ability or depth of understanding. She required greater challenge and sustained engagement. I focused on extending advanced vocabulary, developing sophisticated sentence structures and strengthening critical thinking through reading and writing tasks. By introducing an extended, pupil-led narrative project, she became more invested in her work. Over two terms, her writing grew more nuanced and confident, and she developed a stronger ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.

Year 6 English and 11+ Skills (Entry to Wycombe Abbey)

This student from Garden House School required support with spelling, creative writing and answering grammar questions accurately. I focused on developing exam techniques, structuring written responses clearly and building confidence under timed conditions. Over a five-month period, the student’s written work became more imaginative and focused, her spelling improved and she approached 11+ English tasks with increased confidence and accuracy, securing an offer from Wycombe Abbey.

11+ Interview Preparation (London Independent Day Schools)

I worked with this Garden House student on 11+ interview preparation, including articulation, confidence, problem-solving and responding thoughtfully to unfamiliar questions. Sessions included structured discussion, mock interviews and reflection. Over a four-month period, the student became more confident, expressive and composed, and we are awaiting confirmation of an offer from Francis Holland.

Hobbies

I have a strong interest in technology and IT, particularly the evolving role of AI in everyday life. I am also fascinated by the impact of AI on humans and children, which influences my teaching approach too and leads me to consciously encourage pupils to think independently rather than rely on technology alone. I enjoy art and architecture, photography and content creation, as well as designing advanced LEGO® creations, which involve problem-solving, focus and attention to detail.

Design is a recent and passionate interest of mine. I like working on visually pleasing digital work, including brand identity and logo design, as it allows me to unwind, learn new skills and be creative.

Languages and travel are long-standing hobbies and I enjoy planning detailed itineraries that balance culture, logistics and experience. I also enjoy electronic music and basketball, valuing both the discipline involved and the sense of structure and teamwork they offer.
