Our Commitment to Safeguarding
At Simply Learning Tuition, we believe that every young person has the right to learn in a safe, supportive and respectful environment. We are committed to promoting the welfare of all students and maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding across our tuition services. Regardless of whether lessons take place online or in person, we expect our tutors, students and families to work together to ensure a positive and secure learning experience.
Simply Learning Tuition follows the principles set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and relevant UK safeguarding legislation and guidance.
Why safeguarding matters
Effective safeguarding helps children and young people feel safe, valued and able to achieve their full potential. It involves protecting students from harm, recognising concerns at an early stage and taking appropriate action when necessary.
Tutors are in a unique position of trust and may be among the first adults to notice signs when a student needs support. We ensure all tutors understand their safeguarding responsibilities, having agreed to our safeguarding policy and knowing how to respond appropriately to any concerns.
How Simply Learning recruits and vets tutors
We select tutors who are not only highly qualified and experienced but also demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding and professional conduct.
We follow the Safer Recruitment guidelines and our vetting process includes:
– Enhanced DBS checks, which are updated online every 6 weeks for all tutors
– Verification of identity and right to work
– Verification of qualifications and relevant experience
– Live reference checks from professional referees (not friends, or parents of children they have tutored)
– Assessment of suitability to work with children and young people
Professional standards
All tutors working with Simply Learning Tuition are expected to:
– Maintain professional relationships at all times
– Treat students with respect and fairness
– Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
– Report any safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately
– Follow our safeguarding policies and procedures
Reporting concerns
We encourage anyone who has a safeguarding concern relating to a student, tutor or any aspect of our service to report it as soon as possible.
Concerns may include:
– A student’s safety or welfare
– Inappropriate behaviour or communication
– Concerns about professional conduct
– Suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation
– Any situation that makes a child or young person feel unsafe
All concerns are taken seriously and handled sensitively, confidentially and in accordance with our safeguarding procedures.
