About Me

AS, A-level and Pre-U

I teach AS, A-level and Pre-U History of Art and Art. This involves working with students throughout the year, conducting intensive revision lessons for essay structuring and exam technique, and teaching students the subject from scratch at home. I have been privately tutoring since 2012 and so far, almost all my students have been given A or A* grades, and one, who I helped retake her A2 exams, improved her U to an A. Good relationships with History of Art teachers at several top London girl’s schools means that I can make my tuition support even more targeted to the student’s specific needs and am aware of current approaches to the new syllabus. I have also worked on art related EPQs including a feminist interpretation of fairy-tales and the representation of the Renaissance nude. Many of my students go on to study art history, art, graphic design or fashion at university both in UK and the USA, for which I help with UCAS personal statements and the Common App.

BA and MA

Assisting BA and MA students with weekly essays, coursework, dissertations and exam preparation in Art History, Art and Fashion is a large part of what I do. Lessons can take place in person in London or online for students studying as far away as Los Angeles, New York, Edinburgh and Bristol. Most recently I have worked with students on final year BA dissertations on women artists of the First World War, Deconstructivist architecture, and Man Ray’s representations of sexuality. All my students have received Firsts or high 2.1s in their finals and one received an award for her dissertation. This summer I have worked on MA theses on German Romanticism, Brancusi’s studio practice, South African anti apartheid posters and contemporary Japanese art. In addition to a wide range of special subjects, I also help students with art historical methodologies and critical theory, as well as academic writing, essay and dissertation structuring and exam technique.

Alongside tutoring I lecture and supervise for the undergraduate course on Surrealism at Cambridge University.

Working in the Education department at Tate Britain in my gap year, I was involved in creating learning resources for students and school discussion groups in the galleries.  I have also interned at three auction houses, Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Bonham’s, as well as at Vogue Magazine in London and New York, and have been able to give valuable careers advice to students based on these experiences.
