About Me

My favourite quote is: “If a child cannot learn the way we teach, we should teach the way they learn” by Ignacio Estrada. I plan my pupils’ learning programmes based on their individualised learning needs. I strongly believe that ‘we learn better when playing’. That’s why, I provide fun and multi-sensory lessons that foster a love for learning. Learners with dyslexia often find it difficult to catch-up with their peers in the classroom setting and frequently do not reach their full academic potential. However, with specialist tuition as well as appropriate classroom modifications, pupils with dyslexia are able to achieve results which reflect their ability. I strongly believe that every child deserves at least one adult who believes in them. My dream is to help my pupils reach their full potential through multi-sensory specialist teaching and learning programmes tailored to their strengths and weaknesses.

I am a Primary Teacher and a fully qualified Specialist Teacher and Dyslexia Assessor. I am an Associate Member of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA), a Professional Member of Patoss and Dyscalculia Network and hold an Assessment Practising Certificate from The Dyslexia Guild.

Recent tuition

Year 7 Maths

I tutored K (Year 7) who has been diagnosed with dyslexia and dyscalculia . We worked on improving her spellings, writing and mathematical skills over a 3 year period. K was a child who lacked confidence. She is now in Year 7 and her teachers and parents have noticed a huge difference in her attitude to learning. When she started her lessons with me, she was working below age group expectations and needed lots of support and reinforcement. She has now managed to get very good scores in school exams. Her teachers have mentioned that her scores are in line with her age group expectations. K is a kinesthetic learner who prefers hands-on activities and movement. Indeed, she has benefitted from the games, manipulatives and multi-sensory techniques that I use in my lessons.

Dyslexia Assessment

I assessed M (Year 5) for dyslexia. M’s parents mentioned that M was a bit worried about the assessment process but ended up enjoying it. M’s parents found the in-depth full diagnostic report really helpful as it shed light onto M’s strengths and difficulties. They also found the recommendations for home and school support really helpful. They are also pleased with the fact that they can use this report as evidence for exam access arrangements when appropriate.

“Stamatia makes a huge effort in building up a good rapport and relationship with our child (who has ADHD and most like Dyscalculia). She has given him a belief that he can do it. This is vital for my (any) child. Stamatia seems to have many useful approaches in her teaching methods to help the individual child make sense of numbers. In our case more visual, colour and methods to help remember things, sequencing, patterns etc. You don’t get the likes of Stamatia and her teaching in main school (or private school).”

“Stamatia has been with us at the Hampstead Dyslexia Clinic for the past year as both a Specialist Teacher and Specialist Assessor. She is an excellent Specialist teacher, working with our children from ages 7 to 14, who have been identified with dyscalculia and dyslexia. Using games, manipulatives and multi-sensory techniques to engage and solidify the basics for many of our students who have been unable to learn the fundamentals in Maths and English, Stamatia demonstrates patience and creativity. She communicates extremely well with both the children and the parents, providing feedback and support. As a Specialist Assessor she has also been working at a number of schools across London identifying children with learning differences and producing in-depth Full Diagnostic Assessment reports that are used for school and home support. Stamatia is a wonderful asset to our team here in North London!”
