I have been a private tutor since 2012, and specialise in English, Science and Maths tuition. Please find a snapshot of my previous tuition experience below.
I feel strongly that learning should be enjoyable and instill a sense of confidence, accomplishment and self-esteem, as well as teaching self-discipline and self-motivation. Through studying and learning, you grow as a human being and discover that you are capable of things you previously thought impossible. This is best done in a one-to-one environment, where the student receives a deep level of personal attention and encouragement from their tutor.
I believe in simplifying and structuring seemingly complex and overwhelming tasks, approaching them in a way that demystifies the learning process and empowers the student. A tutor teaches their student how to learn, how to structure their thought processes and tackle a task by breaking it down into manageable steps – and how to confidently structure and communicate their thoughts under exam conditions. As such, I believe in a flexible teaching approach that is sensitive to each individual’s needs, strengths/weaknesses and personal goals.
I am passionate about learning and create a nurturing, stimulating, fun and warm environment for my students. It’s important to me that they feel confident and relaxed, and are unafraid to take risks and make mistakes. Each child I work with is an individual and I pay attention to their personalities and learning habits, making sure they receive exactly the kind of support and encouragement they need to do their very best.
I continually research new teaching methods/techniques/tricks that will help my students find new pathways to successful learning (and remembering all those important exam techniques and information!) If something does not work with a student, I make sure to find a better way of working that will suit them.
I am a warm, optimistic, flexible, innovative and imaginative person. I am empathetic, sensitive and insightful – qualities that lend themselves beautifully to working one-on-one with children and young adults.

11+ English and Maths
Tara lacked confidence and self-esteem which prevented her from advancing further in her 11+ preparation. Through the lessons, she learnt how to structure her thought process and tackle a task by breaking it down into manageable steps – confidently structuring and communicating her thoughts under exam conditions. She has been able to overcome all this through sheer determination and commitment to her education. Tara worked extremely hard on the activities I set, demonstrating resourcefulness and an ability to effectively and efficiently problem solve in various contexts. Overall, she was given a place in her chosen grammar school, Tiffin girls’ school.
11+ Exam Preparation
Meesum was a student who needed to be guided through the 11+ exam preparation. He was a sharp student but lacked focus and direction. I therefore identified gaps in his learning and developed quick strategies displaying methods that were adapted to his way of learning. By simplifying seemingly complex and overwhelming tasks, we were quick to approach them in a way that demystified the learning process and empowered the student. Not only did Meesum’s confidence get a boost, seeing his results improve also motivated him. This overall helped Meesum structure his thought processes and tackle a task by breaking it down into manageable steps – communicating his thoughts clearly under exam conditions. Meesum now attends The John Lyon School in North West London with high aspirations to become a Doctor.
11+ Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning
Neysa was a bright year 5 student was distracted and lacked a clear understanding in Non-Verbal and Verbal Reasoning. One of Neysa’s challenges were that she had been diagnosed with ADHD so this hindered her development. However, this did not stop us as I adapted to her level of understanding, advocating a collaborative approach. Her thought process was unclear as she was taught so many different methods, that she could no longer get her mind to sit and work for longer than 20 minutes. I therefore implemented a flexible timetable which would engage Neysa into the subjects she struggled with, providing a unique teaching style. Therefore, cutting the length of Neysa’s lessons, helped improve her concentration, which allowed her to complete each question correctly and concisely. She’s since accepted an offer from her chosen Grammar school which was Slough Grammar and remains focused on her studies.
11+ Exam Preparation
Kavin was a student who was naturally bright but did not have a fixed mindset on how he would tackle complex problems. The goal of getting into Grammar school was concreted in his mind but getting there was a challenge. Through regular one to one tutoring and the ability to set a fixed timetable, Kavin soon realised his strengths and weaknesses (English), conquering his fears of having to take the test in exam conditions. Having a flexible teaching approach is where Kavin received a deep level of personal attention and encouragement. In a matter of weeks, he felt more confident and relaxed, unafraid to take risks and make mistakes. This overall enhanced his understanding in English to a high standard, securing a position in Queen Elizabeth’s School.
Neysa was one of my GCSE students whom I used to teach within a group. Yet, she required more attention so she was given one-to-one sessions to help her further her knowledge of Biology which significantly helped nourish and develop her’ capabilities, grown outside of the classroom. I advocated a Socratic approach to learning – one in which the teacher encourages the student to use their own initiative and mind to seek answers and find solutions. Having a flexible teaching approach is where Neysa received a deep level of personal attention and encouragement, going on to achieved a Grade 9 in her Exam.
GCSE Mathematics and Homework Support/Study Skills (AQA)
Zac was finding it rather difficult to understand Algebra. He was unable to grasp the mathematical concepts and apply them well due to the feelings of anxiety which are evoked when he encountered a maths problem. Zac was able to secure a Grade 7 in Mathematics within 5 months of intensive tutoring. He has now been able to pursue his A – levels in English Literature, History, ICT and Business.
A Level English Literature and Homework Support/Study Skills (AQA)
Kreshen had been studying American Literature for his A level course which consisted of five different novels and plays. The quickest way to get him moving forward was actually to hold him back a bit. I found the level which he felt he really knew and before I knew it, he raced forward faster than you could possibly imagine. This was accomplished through simplifying and structuring seemingly complex and overwhelming tasks, approaching them in a way that demystified the learning process. This support was just under a year, allowing him to confidently structure and communicate his thoughts under exam conditions. He has now gone to study International Business at Westminster College.
GCSE Mathematics, English, Science and Homework Support/Study Skills (Edexcel)
Jay had been attending Bishopshalt School in Hillingdon where he felt out of place, not receiving the right amount of attention for his upcoming exams. I was called in to assess his weak points and enhance his understanding in the main three topics; Maths, English and Science. As I became familiar with his learning habits, I was able to embed his revision within his daily routine, simplifying and structuring seemingly complex and overwhelming tasks, approaching them in a way that demystifies the learning process. By doing so, Jay instantly felt as if he was finally understanding the concepts behind Negative Feedback in Biology or how to solve a quadratic equation. Through time I taught Jay how to structure his thought process and tackle a task by breaking it down into manageable steps – and how to confidently structure and communicate his thoughts under exam conditions. He became consistent and was able to complete a past paper with full confidence before the end of the time given. He achieved 12 GCSES ranging from Grade 7-9. He now attends Bishopshalt Sixth Form where he is taking Mathematics, Biology and History.
Hobbies and Interests
Outside of tutoring I run and teach private Drumming workshops for those who want to develop their craft. I also love coding and going to the Gym.
