Luke E

"Luke tutored both my children through their GCSEs, A Levels and university admission. He is exceptionally well organised and was very well prepared for each class. The highlight of having had Luke teach my children was that the session did not end when he finished a face-to-face class, but he was only a phone call away to give further support after each session."

About Me

As a tutor, I believe the individual needs and goals of my students dictate the way I structure my tuition. Having gauged the level of my students in an initial lesson, I will construct a plan of tuition that is tailored to the student’s specific requirements. In our initial session, I will identify the student’s particular learning style so that lessons can be planned according to the way the student learns best. I aim to provide interactive and stimulating sessions that are focussed on both exam technique and broader educational enrichment. I push my students in an attempt to cultivate ambition and help them strive for the best possible results. Homework and assessment are crucial to the student’s progression, and I assess and monitor this on a regular basis.

I have significant experience working with students towards the 13+ Common Entrance and school-specific 16+ exams in English, Mathematics and Non/Verbal Reasoning. Having helped all my students successfully attain places, I am acutely familiar with the diverse requirements of these exams. Recent successful school entries include: Harrow, Eton, Charterhouse, Wellington, Brighton College, Sevenoaks, Bradfield, Winchester and KCS. As Head of Sixth Form, I have successfully coached and guided hundreds of students through the UCAS and US Common Application process. I have extensive experience in preparing students for Oxbridge, US Ivy League and Russell Group universities for a broad range of academic disciplines offering highly sought-after academic mentoring, application road mapping, personal statement support and interview practice.

My international outlook informs my belief in the importance of global and culturally rich education. I am also a keen historian, and I read widely around the field of international relations, with a particular interest in early twentieth-century European history.

Testimonials

“Luke tutored both my children through their GCSEs, A Levels and university admission. He is exceptionally well organised and was very well prepared for each class. The highlight of having had Luke teach my children was that the session did not end when he finished a face-to-face class, but he was only a phone call away to give further support after each session. He set exceptionally high standards and expectations for my children and provided them with clear, written objectives in each session. Luke is a well-liked and respected teacher. My children were motivated and depended on Luke for university application besides their subjects.”
