I have travelled extensively whilst working as a private tutor, providing opportunities for me to immerse myself in various cultures, feeling truly at home in Switzerland, Mallorca, Ibiza, Italy, Sardinia and Greece. Each destination presented new challenges but together they have left me with a plethora of linguistic skills and an invaluable knowledge of each society and its norms.
A passionate linguist, I have a degree in Linguistics & Phonetics with French and Spanish from the University of Leeds. After graduating, I went on to teach English, French and Spanish in an international boarding school in Switzerland. Here I became fluent in French and Spanish and gained invaluable experience in teaching international students at all levels and ages.
I provide a bespoke one to one service in teaching children of all ages French, Spanish and English to all levels: inc. beginner, intermediate, advanced and specialise in 13+, GCSE, iGCSE, AS/A2 levels, IB and university tuition..

Most recently, I carried out a residential placement for a family based in Gstaad, Switzerland, who also have homes in Mallorca and the United Kingdom. Tutees ranged from KS2 to GCSE and I tutored all subjects.
- Bringing tutees up to speed with the British curriculum
- Preparing tailored lesson plans adhering to the syllabus that each tutee is studying
- Delivering a personalised programme to each of my tutees
- Writing weekly reports to the parents
- Setting weekly and monthly targets
- Only addressing my tutees in a non-native language (either French, Spanish or English) when instructed to do so by their parents
I now work for this family part-time and carry out holiday tuition at their homes in Gstaad, Switzerland, Mallorca, their yacht in Greece or London.
SEN Dyslexia: Expressed concern regarding 9 year old tutee’s reading and writing difficulties, as a result organised a psychological assessment and lessons at the Dyslexia Teaching Centre in London. Undertook basic training working with SEN children by experts in both United Kingdom and Switzerland.
EAL: Taught Japanese and Italian students (aged 10-14) EAL immersion level at Collège Alpin Beau Soleil. Students received above 80% in their Cambridge English: Preliminary (PET) exams.
EAL: Currently tutoring Japanese student in London (aged 9) to help build confidence and enable student to access curriculum at school. Tuition takes place once a week after school at home and once a week at student’s school, Fulham Prep, where he is taken out of lessons for one-on-one intensive English tuition session.
FLE (Français Langue Étrangère): Given sole responsibility to run the FLE department at Collège Alpin Beau Soleil, created for students in the French Section who did not speak French. Tutored students from Tunisia, Mexico and UK. Prepared a British student (aged 13) for DELF B1 exam. This student received full marks for his oral exam and successfully got a place at Charterhouse.
Numeracy and literacy residential tuition: Tutored two students (aged 8 and 9) primary numeracy and literacy in Ibiza for 10 days in August 2015. Tuition was carried out in both Spanish and English.
Numeracy and literacy residential tuition: Tutored two Russian students (aged 7 and 9) primary numeracy and literacy at Forte Village Resort in Sardinia in July 2016. Three hours of tuition was delivered each day over two weeks.
10+: Weekly preparation for January 2016 exams for student applying to King’s College School, Wimbledon and Dulwich College. Culminating in successful entrance, and acceptance, to Dulwich College to start in September 2017.
11+: Weekly preparation for January 2016 exams for student taking entrance exams for St. Paul’s, Harrodian and Latymer. Culminating in successful entrance to all three schools. This student will be taking up his place at St. Paul’s in September 2016, his most desired school.
Tutoring various students for 11+ aiming to apply for schools including Winchester, Eton, and Harrow.
13+ Tutoring various students for 13+ Scholarship aiming for high calibre schools including Wycombe Abbey, St Swithun’s and Benenden.
13+: Common Entrance French tuition with student attending Sussex House over the course of one term. Weekly tuition in French allowed him to gain the place he was hoping for at St. Paul’s.
13+: French tuition for student aiming for Scholarship entry to Wycombe Abbey. Student was successful and will be accepting place at Wycombe Abbey to start in September 2016.
13+: Eton King’s 13+ Scholarship. Worked with student at Westminster Under over a period of four months prior to Eton King’s 13+ Scholarship exam, resulting in successful entrance to the 1 of 10 places offered for this prestigious scholarship.
13+ Eton Common Entrance French (Scholarship) – I worked with Z online for a year in the run up to his Eton King’s Scholarship exams. Z was a bright boy, and in our time together made brilliant progress with his French. Despite a great effort Z was not successful in securing the scholarship, however he gained entry to Eton, and will be starting there in September 2017.
13+ Eton King’s Scholarship – I am currently working towards this scholarship with a young boy at Wetherby Prep. He is aiming for September 2020 entrance, and has started early to ensure that he keeps in a strong position.
Entrance into the British Section at The Lycée Français Charles De Gaulles de Londres: Family were seeking encouraging English tutor with experience of the French education system to tutor two twin French students. Two Year 9 (quatrième) students were hoping to move into Year 10 in the British system. I therefore supported them with their academic English in preparation for the the British Section entrance exams. Students spoke English, French and Spanish and tuition was carried out mainly in English. Regular structured sessions were completed over the course of four months to give students an idea of how their level of written and formal spoken English compared with the standard they needed to be at. Thanks to my familiarity with the French education system, I was able to guide the students towards the correct level of aptitude for English that was needed to qualify to enter the British Section, by preparing them for the oral and written exams to be taken in May 2016. Intensive interview preparation and essay writing help was therefore the focal point of this tuition. Delighted to say both girls were accepted a place into the British Section that they will be taking up entry to Year 10 in September 2016.
French GCSE: Tutoring student (aged 14) at Eton, online and face-to-face. Fluent French speaker wants to sit his French GCSE early. Tuition is two fold: organising the tutee to sit GCSE French early through dedicated tuition. Secondly, organising a structured program to deliver additional French support to maintain and boost his interest, such as regular reading of French literature, watching French cinema, organising entry to French essay writing competitions and suggestions of French seminars and lectures.
French GCSE: I provided support for Lara completing her Edexcel French GCSE. Lara admitted to finding French challenging but, after receiving feedback over the course of the academic year, Lara was feeling a lot more confident about her exam. Lara achieved an A for her French GCSE, after having bee predicted a D, and I couldn’t be happier for her.
Spanish IGCSE: Currently tutoring IGCSE Spanish (and French) to student attending Charterhouse. Student is to take IGCSE exams in May/June 2017 and is predicted A at this stage. Focal point of tuition is topic-related, targeting specific vocabulary and grammar.
Spanish IGCSE: Regular holiday tuition over the course of one academic year supporting student with her Spanish IGCSE attending The King’s School Canterbury. Tutoring focused on variety of tenses plus reading and writing skills as well as areas of complex grammar such as possessive adjectives. Student received A* and will be taking Spanish for A-level.
Spanish MYP: Year-long guidance for bright student taking Spanish MYP at Cobham ACS. Grammar, reading, writing, vocabulary, listening and oral were key aims of tuition. Student received level 6.
16+ Entrance Exams: 15 year old student attending Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle preparing for her sixth form entry exams to Westminster (entering 6th form in September 2017). 4/5 90 minute weekly sessions over the summer holidays and prepared work for the student to complete whilst she was away on holiday after. Tuition is to continue in September 2016.
French VCE : Tutored student French VCE (Victoria Certificate of Education – A-level equivalent) who was at an Australian school and over visiting the UK.
French A-level: Regular tuition for student at Radley College taking Edexcel French A2 in June 2016. Student had been receiving B/A grade over the course of the year and wanted to boost this to guaranteed A*. Intricate grammar and essay writing was the focus of tutoring sessions. Student received A* and is looking forward to taking up place at Oxford university to start in September 2016.
French A-level: Year-long tuition for student at Radley College taking Edexcel French A2 in June 2016. Listening skills, translation, agreement, complex grammar, essay writing and oral skills were the focus of attention over the course of the year. This resulted in student’s marks rising by two grades from January mock exams to June 2016. Student is delighted to be taking up place at Newcastle university to commence in September 2017. Student was based in South Ken however over the course of the year I carried out some residential tuition with student at their family home in Wiltshire.
Spanish A-level: Regular tuition to help student with their AQA Spanish AS oral exam in April 2016. Student had a slight stutter and needed help building confidence with Spanish speaking skills. Sessions were carried out entirely in Spanish and reading practice of a variety topic-related articles featured heavily in order to improve and enhance vocabulary. I passed on numerous resources to the student to help and guide them in their Spanish speaking. Student received B grade at AS and is looking forward to continuing Spanish at A2 level.
Spanish A-level: Tutored student attending St. Paul’s in Upper Sixth. Student was completing Spanish A2 Edexcel and needed help with essay writing and literature work on Gabriel García Márquez’s “Crónica de una Muerte Anunciada” (Chronicle of a Death Foretold). Student achieved A* and is looking forward to taking up place at Bristol university to commence in September 2017.
Spanish IB: Regular tuition for student in preparation for Spanish IB HL oral exam. Regular practice of mock oral exams was carried out and I gave student numerous resources, help and guidance to improve her Spanish speaking and to help build confidence. Student received level 6 in Spanish and successful entrance to her first-choice university (starting at Edinburgh University in September 2016).
Spanish IB: Tutored Spanish B HL over the course of a year to student attending Ardingly College. Student received level 7 in Spanish and successful entry to her first-choice university.
Spanish IB: Currently tutoring student at Malvern College Spanish B HL. Predicted a 6 but would like to achieve 7. Priority university choice at this stage is King’s College or UCL. Focal point of tuition is Spanish grammar, enhancing Spanish vocabulary and oral exam prep.
French IB: Tutored student at Southbank International School who needed specific help with paper 2 techniques and intensive grammar practice for their French B HL. Student received level 6 and has been accepted offer to study at Shanghai University starting in September 2016.
French IB: Tutored French B SL to a Russian student (aged 15) in Italy, June 2014. Student completed her IB DP with the highest grade 7 and is now applying to Oxbridge for university.
French AP : I tutored a student last year AP French who received a 5 last summer and started at Duke University in September 2017.
French SAT subject test : I worked with a student 2 years ago in preparation for their SAT II. The student scored well in their exam, and gained entry to their school of choice.
Pre-Bac: Regular Skype tuition with 15 year old student in pre-Bac year attending Institut Le Rosey, in Rolle, Switzerland. Long standing client, used to be a residential tutor with this family when student attended day school in Gstaad. Regular weekly tuition in all subjects as well as intensive tuition prior to end of year examinations.
Spanish IB: Tutoring Spanish B SL online to student based in India. Regular intensive tuition is carried out on an ongoing basis and will continue throughout the upcoming academic year. Student to graduate in May 2017. Principal focus is Internal Assessment progression and oral examination prep.
Collège Alpin Beau Soleil September 2012 – June 2013 Villars-sur-Ollon, Switzerland
School administration – working on reception, minute taking in meetings held in French and Spanish, diary management, travel arrangement, arranging departmental meetings, screening telephone calls in French and general front of house such as meeting and greeting parents and guests from all over the world.
Teaching and translating French, Spanish and English. I tutored various students IGCSE and IB (SL and HL). I worked very closely with my students and saw a vast improvement in their work. The majority achieved excellent results, minimum A in IGCSE, majority A* and namely level 7 in IB.
Hobbies and Interests
I am a keen and expert dancer which is part of my desire to keep healthy and fit. I have taken numerous exams in ballet, tap and disco with the Imperial Society of the Teacher’s of Dancing (ISTD) reaching Supreme Level. I also participated in numerous shows (produced by the dance school) and competitions, namely the Disco Freestyle – Rock ‘n’ Roll Medallist Competition held in East Grinstead annually. In 2007 I came third in my age group in this competition which put me through to the ISTD National finals in Guildford where I was placed twelfth for my age group.
Skiing is a sport which I take great pleasure in. I undertook a ski season in 2009 where I lived and worked in the ski resort of Alpe d’Huez in the French Alps. As a competent skier, I became an assistant ski instructor as part of my job at Collège Alpin Beau Soleil, where I used to accompany groups of students on the mountain who could ski at an intermediate level. I also accompanied my tutees on the slopes during the winter months of my most recent residential tuition placement in Gstaad.
I play the piano and violin. I have achieved grade 5 piano and grade 3 violin. I took all the music exams with the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM).
Learning languages is my greatest passion. I speak French and Spanish fluently and am currently learning Italian and Portuguese to add them to my language profile.
I was chosen as a Female Leader (the only female member of staff) to participate in a school trip to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in February 2013. My job was to motivate and encourage the students. As a result, I have become increasingly interested in hiking and plan to trek Machu Picchu, in Peru.
