English Language support and Life Skills mentoring

I tutored a 34-year old student with SEN (autism and dyslexia) and significant gaps in formal education. I focused on improving reading comprehension, sentence structure, spelling, punctuation, grammar, vocabulary development, functional writing, confidence in communication, as well as foundational GCSE English Language skills. Lessons were adapted using structured repetition, visual prompts and step-by-step modelling to support full comprehension.

This student developed higher confidence in reading and writing, expanded their vocabulary, and became more independent when completing written tasks. They showed stronger understanding of sentence structure, punctuation and paragraph organisation. They also improved their ability to express ideas clearly, follow instructions and engage with more challenging literacy activities over time.

Ongoing weekly tutoring has been delivered over ten months through structured 1:1 sessions.

Arabic Language (Beginner to Independent Reading Level)

I provided structured Arabic tuition for this student, beginning with letter recognition, phonics, pronunciation, and reading fluency. I focused on building confidence through repetition, guided reading and consistent practice. Lessons were adapted carefully to the student’s pace and learning style, creating an encouraging environment that supported long-term retention and steady progression.

This student progressed from having almost no knowledge of the Arabic alphabet to confidently reading full pages of advanced Arabic text accurately and independently. Pronunciation, fluency and reading confidence improved significantly over time. The student now approaches unfamiliar passages with far greater independence and demonstrates strong consistency, enthusiasm and pride in their learning during lessons.

Support has been provided consistently over approximately one and a half years through twice-weekly tuition sessions.

Arabic Language (Beginner to Conversational Fluency)

I provided structured Arabic tuition focused on speaking, listening, reading, pronunciation and vocabulary development. Lessons were adapted to the student’s pace and long-term goals using guided conversation and practical language exercises to build confidence and fluency.

This student progressed from basic introductory Arabic knowledge to communicating confidently in conversations with improved pronunciation, listening comprehension, and vocabulary. The student demonstrated strong consistency, motivation, and increasing independence throughout lessons.

Support was provided through ongoing twice-weekly one hour online tuition sessions.

Persian Language (Professional Communication and Workplace Fluency)

I provided structured Persian tuition for this adult learner, focusing on speaking, listening, reading and professional workplace communication. Lessons concentrated on conversational fluency, pronunciation, business vocabulary, client interaction and culturally appropriate communication for professional settings. Sessions were tailored carefully to the learner’s professional goals, using role play, repetition, guided dialogue and real-world scenarios to build confidence and practical language ability.

This student progressed from having very limited Persian knowledge to communicating confidently in professional and customer-facing situations. Speaking fluency, listening comprehension, pronunciation and vocabulary improved significantly throughout tuition. The student became increasingly comfortable handling workplace conversations independently and demonstrated strong confidence when engaging with Persian-speaking clients and colleagues in a professional environment.

Support was provided through weekly two hour tuition sessions over a period of two years.

IGCSE English Language and Literature 

I provided structured tuition for two students in IGCSE English Language and English Literature, focusing on essay writing, textual analysis, comprehension, vocabulary and exam technique. Lessons were tailored to each students’ strengths and areas for development, using guided practice, timed exercises and detailed feedback to improve confidence and academic performance.

Both students developed stronger analytical writing skills, improved confidence with exam-style questions and greater understanding of literary texts and language techniques. Written expression, structure, and critical analysis improved steadily, alongside increased independence and accuracy when completing timed exam tasks.

Support was provided through regular weekly tuition sessions over a period of seven months leading up to examinations.

Professional Development and English Communication Mentoring

I provide ongoing 1:1 mentoring and support focused on professional development, English communication, career planning, confidence building, and organisational skills. Guidance includes interview preparation, workplace communication, CV improvement, long-term goal setting, and developing greater confidence in professional and social situations.

This mentee developed has improved confidence, clearer professional direction and stronger communication skills. She has become more organised, proactive and independent when approaching career opportunities and professional responsibilities, while also demonstrating greater resilience and self-belief in challenging life situations.

Support is provided through regular check-in sessions over a year and is ongoing.
