About Me

Of course, my approach depends on the level of student. However, if we take exam preparation for Common Entrance, GCSE or A level as an example, my first step is to test and understand the level of the student by studying his reports / his existing material / books and any papers / homework he may have. From there, it’s building on the weaknesses and solidifying the strengths while always working on the confidence. I then download or request mock papers from the board from which they are studying and we work closely on each section of the language and the syllabus that follows the papers.

Recent tuition

English, French & Spanish to 7 year old

I mentored and tutored a Russian boy called N, who was 7 years old at the time, to prepare him for entry into the UK school system. This involved teaching him English but also French and Spanish, enlisting other tutors and assisting with interview technique. He was a beginner in both French and Spanish and by the end of Year 1, he was able to have the basics of both languages including basic conversation, tenses and grammar and vocabulary.

Spanish, from beginner level

I taught a student at Westminster school, Spanish as an extra language outside of school, so from beginner level and continued teaching before he went on to public school. His parents lived in Spain and they wanted him to get proficient in the language. I also ended up tutoring him French alongside his school work in the language. This included helping him with his homework and prepping him for exam work.

French and Spanish, from beginner level

I taught a family (x 2 twin brothers) and their parents both French and Spanish from beginner level. My style with the parents was relaxed and focusing on conversational aspects of both languages. With the twin boys I worked closely, building up their vocabulary and confidence over a period of 1 year. They were foreign and both ended up in the UK school system.

A Level French

I taught French to a British girl who had decided to take it for a her A level but was really struggling. She was receiving very low grades in her mock exams and had lost confidence. Through a process of confidence building (especially in the oral section), and methodical work going through mock papers and preparing her accordingly She managed to receive a B grade.

GCSE Spanish

I taught Spanish to a GCSE student for a period of 2 years who was more or less starting as beginner. As well formulating a plan to get her started as a beginner with basic skills, she went on to thrive in the language along with her scheduled teaching at school. She went on to take it as one of her subjects at A level following a top grade at GCSE level.

Hobbies

Travel because it uses my languages. I also speak Russian. Volunteering because it is my way of giving back. Working with motivational speakers because I can learn new things.
