I teach primary students and all secondary qualifications and have extensive experience in the following: GCSE (AQA, Edexcel), IGCSE (Cambridge, Edexcel), A level (AQA, Edexcel, Eduqas) & IB.
I have a passion for working with children and young people and a great talent for instilling French language and culture appreciation and promoting open-mindedness. I have the ability to motivate and inspire my pupils. I am patient, humorous, and capable of cultivating the interest in learning and I always encourage interactions and participation during classes. I have an extensive teaching experience in a wide range of visual and digital media having more than 17 years of experience in implementing creative, media and educational projects for international institutions, NGOs, festivals, museums, galleries, broadcasters, online platforms and academics.
I am a giving person focussing on the needs of the individuals, building their confidence, curiosity and skills to become life-long learners. I have an excellent teaching record, coupled with proven abilities to encourage and develop young talents. I take great care of my students with whom I can share their interests and ambitions. My main goals are to support and stimulate all aspects of my students’ learning process; to develop their knowledge and skills, to guide them through studying, researching, experimenting, exploring ideas and achieving their potential, as well as to contribute positively to the intellectual development and personal fulfilment of each and every student.
My work has been deeply informed and enriched by my continuous multicultural experience, cross-cultural dialogues and exploration of identities, histories and meanings. I have worked internationally and developed a deep appreciation for peoples, arts and cultures. I have a happy personality, I can connect with others and I love to work with young people. I can easily engage with them with a unique personal approach and authenticity. I take great pride in encouraging students to pursue intellectual, creative and cultural interests within and beyond the formal curriculum.
I have taught a variety of students attending schools including Winchester College, Summer Fields School Oxford, Westminster School, Halcyon London International School, Hampton Court House, Knightsbridge School, Latymer Prep School, The City of London School for Girls, West London Free School, Mander Portman Woodward, Swanbourne House School, Lionheart Education and Ashford Senior School.
KS2 & KS3 French
My weekly individual sessions with E (Year 7) and L (Year 3) are so enjoyable, lively and dynamic. I managed to bring the language to life very quickly after our first lesson and created a self sufficiency in study habits which encourage and give them a desire to continue as far as possible with French language acquisition. We use a variety of techniques (online drills, textbook studies, films and general conversations), which helps E & L to improve upon their skills and build a good foundation.
I was a GCSE tutor for A (Year 11 student at Ashford Senior School), who went from a predicted C to receiving an A overall in 10 months. My student loved the language but found it hard to flourish in a school environment. Combining my in-depth understanding of the curriculum and effective teaching techniques, I managed to establish a genuine connection with A, and to give her confidence in her ability to learn languages, which ultimately led to GCSE success.
Year 12 French
With M’s tutorials, we went back to basics, creating a set of grammar notes, and working on reading, writing and oral presentations for the whole of Year 12. This helped to increase her confidence in speaking and also taught her invaluable techniques for verb conjugations. In the end, she was able to achieve a 9 in her French AS Level results.
Year 12 / Year 13 French
I provided tuition to N (Hampton Court House), who was experiencing anxiety disorder over 14 months. My goal was to enabling her to actively engage in our lessons and boost her confidence. I quickly assessed the areas that she needed to work on and created a positive rapport with my student. N was able to learn in a comfortable environment through one-to-one learning. I adapted my teaching style accordingly to result in more positive outcomes. N comfortably met deadlines, stayed motivated and lowered her anxiety.
Cambridge Pre-U French
I tutored H (Westminster School) for Cambridge Pre-U French over six months. I delivered individually tailored and personalised learning plans to prepare Paper 1 Speaking and Paper 3 Writing and Usage. H made excellent progress with comprehension, discussion and writing essays in French. H said that my lessons and guidance were instrumental across the Cambridge Pre-U process and the acquisition of the language.
Cooking (because I am French!) / swimming (gives me a sense of wellbeing) / cinema, arts and culture (to engage with various perspectives, and explore the world around us and experience beauty).
“An amazing tutor!”

“Frederique has been working really well with my son to develop his French for his GCSE. Not only is Frederique a great French tutor but her approach to identifying improvement areas and clear passion for languages are great attributes.”
