About Me

I have worked as a tutor since 2015. I am also a highly-skilled qualified teacher with over 10 years’ experience in the classroom. My subject specialisms include English and Maths. Additionally, I provide complete support for Entrance Exam preparation (8+, 11+ and 13+) and Academic writing support. I am experienced with teaching and tutoring SEN students. I also have considerable experience with gifted and talented students.

Recent tuition

I have 150 hours of tutoring experience, working with students from Pre-school to Key Stage 3. My recent 11+ tutoring success has been my student’s admission to Woodford County High School for Girls. I am currently preparing two students for the Godolphin & Latymer and Wycombe Abbey. This is a sample of my most recent tutoring experience.

7+ Common Entrance Maths

I worked with Maya towards her St Paul’s entry exam. She was an exceptionally bright student, but needed the extra support to cope with the exam. I am delighted that Maya has been offered a place.

8+ Common Entrance English

When we started in September 2018, David struggled to concentrate and, even though he was confident in his ability, his parents were worried about his short attention span (I happened to be his third tutor). David had a relatively narrow vocabulary and ‘less than neat’ handwriting. In time he has significantly improved in terms of his attitude to work and started to make an effort with his handwriting. Also, his composition coherence has improved too. David has recently received an offer to study at Rokeby School.

Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 English and Maths/Homework Support and Study Skills

I tutored siblings Olivia and Kai. I prepared Kai for his 11+ exams to Ilford County Grammar School for Boys. Even though I prepared him for his 11+ exams for six weeks only, his mother very pleased with his results. Olivia and Kai’s mother is most satisfied with my ongoing support as her son, Kai is currently in the highest set in Maths and English. Additionally, Olivia, who is currently in Year 6, is the best at Maths in her class. Having been working on spelling and composition for the last 2.5 years, Olivia’s improvement has been significant in terms of paragraphing and sentence structure.

11+ Common Entrance English and Maths

As a non-native speaker, Nayla worked hard during our weekly English and Maths sessions that took place between September 2017 and July 2018.  Nayla’s English sessions focused on reading and comprehension, composition, grammar, punctuation, verbal and non-verbal reasoning and vocabulary. Notwithstanding of the fact that Nayla’s overall mathematical brilliance was a promising sign of her future success, she developed confidence and, most importantly, learned to slow down to optimise her performance. Nayla’s impressive zeal and diligence gained her a place at Woodford County High School for Girls in September 2018.

11+ Common Entrance English

Mia has been struggling with confidence in her own ability, as she wasn’t a native speaker. We have been working together intensively since September 2018, and our sessions include comprehension, composition, grammar, punctuation, non-verbal reasoning and vocabulary-boosting activities. Owing to Mia’s particular need to improve her writing (mainly clarity of expression and sentence structure) and comprehension, we have also been working on literary devices as well as inference and deduction techniques. Mia sat her 11 + English entry exam in January 2019, and we are eagerly awaiting the results.

11+ Common Entrance Maths

Again, as a non-native speaker, Milly has been occasionally struggling with the interpretation of certain mathematical problems, especially when lengthy problem questions are the case. We have been working together intensively since September 2018 and our sessions include ISEB exam practice. Milly has gained significant confidence in her abilities ever since we started.

11+ Common Entrance English

Sara and I have been working intensively together since September 2018; our sessions include reading and comprehension, composition (paragraphing, sentence structure and punctuation), literary devices, verbal and non-verbal reasoning and vocabulary-boosting activities. Having been working with Sara since September 2018, I can tell that she has remarkably broadened her vocabulary as well as inference and deduction skills. Sara sat her 11 + exams in January 2018, and we are eagerly awaiting the results.
