About Me

My approach to admissions counselling is to maintain a positive and supportive environment while giving realistic and truthful feedback. Before beginning a new application, I discuss potential essay topics with my students and form a strategy for showcasing the student’s interests and strengths across the essays and supplements. I also work with students to identify any awards, honours, or accolades they might be eligible for to help strengthen their profile and stand out in a pool of competitive applicants.

I have advised on several successful Schwarzman Scholarship applications and I have been advising the successful Ivy League and Oxbridge university applications of the Code Your Chances Youth Leadership Board for several years. I have a wide breadth of education application experience both in the UK and in the US as well as unique insight into the stylistic differences between UK and US applications. The majority of my experience has been with year 11 and 12 students (US high school junior/senior), but I have also advised on a few US boarding school applications.

I have also worked with an Oxford University partner organization to prepare students for their GCSE exams. I mainly have experience in English Language and Literature, Drama, Business, History and Moving Image Arts.

Recent tuition

GCSE/A Level History

While at Oxford, I was a volunteer tutor for local GCSE and A level students in various history topics and American studies. In addition to curriculum review, I advised the students in study skills, revision techniques and time management. Each student provided feedback that he/she became more confident in their reading and writing abilities and felt more equipped to successfully prepare for important exams.

IB Extended Essay

I recently helped a Canada-based student research and revise his EE on the economic benefits of using artificial intelligence to combat the spread of sexually transmitted infections in India. I have also previously helped a student edit and revise and narrow the focus of their EE on the human rights of climate change refugees in Europe.

Law School Applications

I advised an international student on her law school applications to both US and UK universities. I advised her specifically on the content and form of her personal statements, including a strategy to differentiate her from other competitive applicants. She was admitted to both Oxford University and Harvard Law School.

US University Application

I advised a US-based student on her undergraduate applications to universities in both the US and UK. I helped her compile a list of target, reach, and safety schools with detailed information on her statistical chances of admission to each. I formed a strategy to present her seemingly disparate interests in a compelling and cohesive narrative that made sense to admissions committees, and advised on topic brainstorming and rigorous editing of her personal statements and supplemental application essays. I also guided her through rigorous interview practice to ensure she was prepared to perform well under any circumstances. She was admitted to many of her top choice schools such as Northwestern University, UC Berkeley, Barnard College, University of Southern California, and the University of St Andrews.

US University Application

I guided a US-based student through both his academic applications and auditions for US drama schools. In addition to supporting his written applications through essay guidance and editing, I helped him select monologues and songs to prepare for his live auditions. He was accepted to his dream school, New York University Tisch School of the Arts in the Drama department.

US University Application

I advised an India-based student on his applications to study computer science in both the US and UK. I helped him understand the important stylistic differences between US and UK applications and advised him on which extra curricular activities, internships and volunteer work that would be helpful to support his US university applications. In addition to supporting his applications through essay topic brainstorming and editing, I revised the format and presentation of his CV, helped him to prepare a “brag pack” for his recommendation letter requests and helped him to expand his target school lists to increase his chances of admissions. He was admitted to his two top choice schools, Princeton and Carnegie Mellon University.

UK University Application

I advised a US-based student on his application to Imperial College London. I helped him develop a comprehensive application strategy to demonstrate interest in his chosen field of study and stand out in a pool of competitive applicants. He was successfully admitted to Imperial after a stress-free application process!

Hobbies & Interests

My first degree (before my history and law degrees) was a musical theatre degree from NYU Tisch, so I really enjoy acting, singing and dancing. I find performance art to be a great way to release stress and boost my mood! My sister and I also have a small film production company to empower women in film, on screen and off. I have a lot of fun working on set for our films and attending our screenings at film festivals around the world.

“Dominique advised me on my successful application to Imperial College London. She helped me to understand how my application for UK universities should be different from my previous applications to US universities and provided helpful feedback and advice on my essay. Dominique also helped me to identify who I should ask for references and what extra curricular experience to highlight in my application.”

UK University Application

“Dominique guided me through every step of my NYU admissions process and helped me to put my best foot forward. She thoroughly edited my common app and NYU supplement essays, not only for grammar and structure but also by making helpful suggestions related to the content, tone and style of my writing. By the time I submitted, I felt like my application essays were each the best version of an essay that was still authentically me.”

US University Application

“I am not a native English speaker and I did not have previous experience with the UK and US university admissions systems, so Dominique’s advice was extremely helpful. After working with Dominique, I felt confident that the applications I submitted really showcased what made me a unique candidate.”
