I have been a private tutor since 2014, and specialise in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, maths and Economics.
I believe that a genuine interest in a subject is the key to non-tedious revision sessions and outstanding exam performances. I ensure that I provide analogies and information on real-world applications with everything I teach; this illustrates the relevance of knowledge and motivates the student to increase their understanding of the subject matter.
In terms of exam preparation, practice makes perfect. I am quick to explain to all my students (and it is my belief that) everything is a matter of practice and effort. I ensure that all my students have completed, and perfected, multiple past papers before entering the exam room.
I am passionate about what I teach and provide my students with the revision techniques I personally found effective in my own studies.
Ever since I began my university studies, I noticed that I was very good at explaining complicated scientific concepts, in a simple way, to non-technical audiences.
I have over 400 hours tuition experience for GCSE, A Level and IB. Please find a snapshot of my tuition experience below.
2nd year Undergraduate Mathematical Economics
Sofia was a 2nd year student at Nottingham University, struggling with a challenging mathematical-economics module. It was clear that the student lacked confidence in her mathematical ability and was predicted a C by her professor. After 4 months of intensive tutoring (3 sessions a week), the student sat the exam and informed me a few weeks later that she had achieved an A.
A Level Mathematics (AQA)
Emily was 6 months away from her A-Level exams and needed a B in mathematics to get into her chosen university. Her school teacher had “given up on her” and she was predicted an E. Emily scored an A in her exam, and went on to study Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Exeter University.
A Level Physics (Edexcel)
Eric scored an E in his Physics mock exam in late April and needed a B to get into Bristol University. We conducted 3-4 tutoring sessions per week between April and June; and Eric went on to get an A in his final exam.
A Level Physics
Rami was scoring mid/high Bs in his A-Level Physics and needed an A to study Engineering at Bath. We conducted weekly 2-hour sessions during the academic year and Rami managed to score an A.
A Level Physics
Hanin was scoring low Cs in her A-Level Physics and was aiming for a B in her summer exams to secure a good predicted score for university. Hanin eventually scored a high B in her summer exams.
A Level Chemistry
When I started working with Zoe she was scoring low B’s in class tests, but needed an A to secure a place to York University, her first choice. After 4 months of weekly, 2 hour lessons Zoe scored an A* in her exam and went on to study at York.
A Level Chemistry
Het had failed his Chemistry A Level the first time around, scoring an E. After a full academic year of weekly online lessons I was delighted when he scored a B in his retakes.
GCSE Science (CIE)
Owen was struggling with his GCSE Science work. His school claimed that he “did not understand Chemistry” and that he should drop Physics as well — and just prepare for the Biology exam. Over the course of 1.5 years, we conducted weekly tutoring sessions on all three subjects, with Owen sitting all three Science exams and achieving 2A*s and an A. I will be teaching Owen A-Level Physics and Economics during this academic year.
GCSE Chemistry and Biology
Christine was an A* student who had severe problems with concentration when she found herself under exam pressure. Even though she was proficient with her knowledge in Chemistry and Biology, she simply under-performed during class tests and could not quite apply her knowledge to exam questions. Over a period of 10 months, the student and I worked extensively on exam technique, past paper questions as well as strategies for maximising her grade on the exam paper. She scored A*s on both subjects.
Hobbies and Interests
I am a pianist and singer. I also write poetry.
