About Me

I aim to make lessons engaging and adaptive. I remain calm and communicate clearly with the pupil to understand how I can help them learn best. I would aim to get to know the pupil I would be tutoring well by understanding what learning outcome they aimed to develop and how this would be made possible in the time frame. I would set the goals with the pupil and their parent. I would then structure a series of lessons to meet this objective using a variation of resources dependent on the pupils needs or learning requirements. I would adjust and adapt these resources and my style of teaching depending on the individual child’s needs to learn best and in a way that would help them confidently develop.

Recent tuition

Year 2 – communication skills, maths

I taught Z in the range of Year 2 primary subjects. I taught Z for a 12 week period. Z had speech and language difficulties. Z was working towards age related expectations. I worked with Z in different areas of the curriculum with a specific focus on her communication skills. I built a strong relationship with Z which built her confidence and her ability to communicate and express her thoughts and feelings. Z massively improved in Maths securing her number bonds to ten and Z was able to write coherent sentences using capital letters and full stops in her writing. Her biggest improvement was her growth in confidence.

Year 2 – grammar

I taught M in the range of Year 2 primary subjects. I taught M for a 12 week period. M was a high achieving student who felt he needed to develop his grammar to reach his full potential. I identified the grammatical areas he needed to improve on. We worked on improving these areas and I taught him how to apply his knowledge and use the correct grammar to develop his writing. After the 12 week period M was confident in these grammatical areas and was not afraid to ask for help.

Year 2 – English

I taught S in the range of Year 2 primary subjects. I taught S for a 12 week period. S was working at age related expectations. S was an enthusiastic student who wanted to develop his writing. I worked with him to expand his vocabulary and use of different sentence types to strengthen his work. He enjoyed reading new material and structuring his writing on different topics that interested him. I ensured I provided him with new material to inspire his writing and taught him new vocabulary alongside this. S developed his writing skills, he grew a love for writing and developed his work by editing and adding new information.

Year 5 – Maths and English

I taught T in Year 5 English, Maths, Science and a range of the primary foundation subjects. I taught T for a 8 week period. T was a student working towards age related expectations. T required support developing her confidence to work independently. I built up her confidence by strengthening her knowledge of the key concepts in Maths and developing her grammar and vocabulary in English. She built up her confidence and happily completed both Maths and English work independently.

KS2 Maths

I taught J in the range of primary subjects with a main focus on key stage 2 Maths. I worked with J for a 8 week period. J was a high-achieving student who felt that he needed extra support with multiplication. I worked with J to secure his knowledge of multiplication by first securing his initial mastery of the key concept and then building up his confidence with more challenging multiplication questions. J secured his understanding of multiplication and was able to answer multiplication at Year 6 level.

Hobbies

I enjoy running, swimming, travelling and cooking. I love staying fit and active, exploring different countries and making different types of food.
