Academic & Employment History

Chris joined the SLT team in April 2025. He was educated at The King’s School, Canterbury and went on to become a Head of English & Drama, Sports Team Coach, Housemaster, Director of Co-Curricular Activities and then an Independent School Headmaster for 16 years, working in Prep, Senior and all-through Schools. He has also been a University Tutor and was awarded a Fellowship in Management Studies at the Institute of Education at London University. He gained a Master’s Degree in Language in Education as well as a TEFL qualification. He has directed International Summer Language Schools over many years in the UK and taught adults overseas.

Chris has helped countless families find the right next stage in their education, including some of the most highly competitive and well-known establishments, and loves seeing children happy and thriving. He enjoys meeting students and their families and matching the student with exciting school options.

As an ex Headmaster and someone who knows schools from the inside, as well as School Choice Chris offers bespoke Interview Practice and can mentor students online once they begin in their new school or university.

Recent tuition

I have prepared students for many of the top independent schools in England as well as some less well known. I have also helped students applying to university. Most frequently through Interview Practice or English Tutoring.

I received an email from one student’s grandmother, who also runs an educational consultancy company, asking me to help him who was about to start Year 6 at Chepstow House and wanted help with English and Interview Practice for a number of London Day Schools. She described him as “anxious, riddled with allergies”. Over six months we worked through all the entrance tests and interviews and he finally received offers from: City of London, Dulwich, Latymer Upper, St Paul’s, UCS & Wetherby.…
…His parents and grandmother were delighted and asked me to repeat with his sister who then had similar success and was offered places at: Francis Holland SS & Regent’s Park, Latymer & Queen’s College.

Hobbies

Sports – a bit of a fitness fanatic. Enjoy Swimming, Running, Tennis. I enjoy sports because they are great exercise and get me away from working for a while. Even watch Ipswich Town play football when I can!
