About Me

I have an engaging, hybrid teaching style. At the start of every lesson I set out the goals that will be achieved by the end of the lesson. Once the main content of the lesson has been taught, I reflect with each student on whether these lesson goals have been achieved through reading through what went well in the lesson and what could be improved in each lesson. I like to ensure that the student feels confident in the content covered, thus, I start each lesson with a small icebreaker, to reacquaint the student with the course content. Additionally, once a key topic has been covered I enjoy being engaging with students where I let the student become the master. Here, I give students the opportunity to teach me what has been covered. This memory recall method helps the student to solidify their knowledge and feel confident in the course content.

Recent tuition

As well as tutoring Maths and Biology, I prepare students for the Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA) Oxford University entrance examination. I have previously tutored students facilitating them in the preparation for both part one and part two of this entrance examination. I have also given students advice in the construction of their personal statements and have mentored students in the process of preparing for Oxford University interviews.

Maths (Year 8) (Edexcel)

I tutored this student for a period of four months assisting them in their secondary school maths work. Initially, this student struggled with confidence where they did not feel comfortable answering questions within class. I helped to build this student’s confidence in maths through recapping key formulations that they were taught in lesson. This extra support greatly boosted the student’s confidence and they felt more self-assured to engage in class activities.

GCSE Maths (Edexcel)

I tutored this student in the three months leading up to their GCSE maths exam. When I first met this student, they averaged a grade 3 in their GCSE maths and struggled with time management and confidence within their exams. I worked through exam techniques with this student, where I guided them on how to answer maths questions in a timely manner. I also helped them solidify their knowledge of key mathematical principles. After three months of tutoring GCSE maths, this student went from an average grade three to achieving an overall grade 5 in their maths exam.

IGCSE Biology (Edexcel)

I recently tutored an IGCSE Edexcel Biology student in a one-to-one online setting, covering key topics such as Mitosis, Meiosis, Translation, Transcription, and Reproduction. My goal was to create fun and engaging lessons that reinforced understanding and built confidence in the subject matter. Student is achieving 7s with the aim of getting a 9. Through interactive teaching methods, personalised explanations, and targeted practice, I helped the student strengthen their grasp of complex concepts. Each lesson was designed to be both educational and enjoyable, ensuring they felt confident by the end of each session. By focusing on exam techniques, active recall strategies, and in-depth discussions, I helped the student refine their knowledge and improve their performance. This personalised approach contributed to their academic progress, supporting them with their goal of achieving top grades.

A-Level Biology (AQA)

I tutored this student for a period of eight weeks helping them in their A-level biology exam. This student struggled in succinctly answering A-level biology exam questions and did not know how the marks were allocated per answer. I helped this student in the process of precisely answering exam questions in order that they may get the maximum marks in their exams. This student went from an average grade D in A-Level biology to overall achieving a grade B in their final exam. They gained a place at their desired University.

Oxford University entrance examinations (History)

I mentored this student for two months helping them in the process of Oxford University applications. This student needed particular help with the construction of their personal statement. I focussed on how to develop the content included within their personal statement. This student has now gained a place at the University of Oxford to read History.

Oxford University entrance examinations (Human Sciences)

I mentored this student for a month helping them with the Human Sciences interview process at the University of Oxford. I gave them advice on how to shape their answers delivered in interviews. I taught them how to effectively answer typical interview style questions, while exemplifying their desire to study the course. After working on interview techniques, this student gained a place at the University of Oxford to read Human Sciences.

Hobbies

Alongside academics I am interested in the creative arts. In my spare time, I enjoy making short films that cover lifestyle and faith based content. I particularly love this medium of story-telling because it allows me to fuse my passion for music with visual documentation which I find to be a freeing form of self-expression. I also enjoy running. I take part in local park-runs every Saturday morning. I enjoy the stretch that is involved in running, where in each run I feel challenged to improve my time or distance. I hope to reach my first milestone of 25 park runs very soon!
