About Me
The work of a teacher extends beyond lessons, shaping students’ confidence and competence both inside and outside the classroom. While exam preparation is essential, education also involves helping students discover their unique place in the world where they find fulfilment and purpose. As a passionate and professional tutor, I balance confidence-building, motivation, academic rigor, and high expectations to create a challenging yet rewarding learning journey.
My pupil-centred teaching philosophy focuses on tailoring materials, lessons, and delivery to each individual, with a particular interest in making learning accessible and long-lasting. I specialize in study skills, memory, and applied cognitive science, ensuring that students can retain and apply knowledge—whether mastering historical facts or communicating in a foreign language—with ease and enjoyment.

I specialise in high-stakes entrance exam preparation for grammar and independent schools, including 7+, 11+, 13+, and Common Entrance. With a track record working in elite British and Swiss schools, I offer targeted support in VR, NVR, English, Maths, and interview prep. My students regularly secure places at top-tier institutions.
Pre-U French (Westminster School)
I tutored this student in French Pre-U for three months, focusing on advanced literature and oral exam preparation. They had a strong grasp of French but needed help deepening their translation skills and articulating ideas under exam pressure. We worked through the set texts in detail and practised oral discussions regularly. By the end of our sessions, they were more analytical, fluent, and well-prepared for the demands of the course.
IB German SL (Sevenoaks School)
I tutored this student in IB German SL over a three-month period. He was a capable student but lacked confidence in oral expression and struggled to structure his ideas in written German. I focused on building his fluency through regular speaking sessions and created bespoke writing tasks to target exam criteria. With this targeted support, he went into his final assessments feeling significantly more confident and performed strongly across both components.
IB German SL (Haileybury School)
I tutored this student in IB German SL for four months. She was a hardworking student who felt overwhelmed by the demands of the course and was especially anxious about the speaking and writing exams. I helped her develop vocabulary, refine her accent, and practise speaking in exam-like conditions. We also worked on writing structured, idiomatic essays. Her oral fluency and writing sophistication improved quickly, and she went on to perform very well in her final exams.
GCSE Spanish
I tutored this student over the course of a full academic year in preparation for GCSE Spanish. He had selective mutism and required a sensitive, consistent approach. We built trust gradually, and I adapted my lessons to be supportive and non-pressurised. Over time, he began to respond verbally and his speaking and written work improved significantly. By the end of the year, the student was able to complete an oral exam with far greater confidence and independence, and achieved a 7 in final GCSE exams (when originally predicted a 4).
GCSE English Language & Literature
I supported this student for six months leading up to their GCSE exams. They had dyslexia and struggled particularly with timing and organising their thoughts in writing. We worked on structuring essays, developing reading strategies, and practising timed responses – this was particularly important for the Paper 1 Section B. With ongoing support and exam-specific preparation, the student gained confidence and was able to manage their time effectively in the final exams, producing clear and well-developed responses.
