About Me
For me, the heart of teaching lies in sparking a love of learning in each student. I am passionate about creating an environment where students feel valued, respected, and connected. I believe that when students know their teacher genuinely cares about them, they’re more likely to embrace learning with enthusiasm and positivity. This philosophy has guided my approach throughout my six years as a classroom teacher, primarily working with grades 2, 3, and 4, along with my experience as a supply teacher across all primary-aged classrooms. Teaching students with diverse academic, emotional, and diagnostic needs has shaped my commitment to adaptable and inclusive education. I value every opportunity to learn from my students and their unique perspectives, and hoping to make each day with students a rewarding journey and a fresh opportunity to inspire a love of learning. I use a wide variety of open-ended tasks and concrete materials to keep the students engaged. I also enjoy adding elements of creativity and fun to help students see that learning can be fun! Finally, I make sure students have a mix of environments and movement breaks to keep their brains focused during the hour.

Phonics and Social Skills, Early Years
I tutored this student in preparation for beginning Reception. He had government funding for speech pathology and social skills development so I worked on phonics, speech, and social communication with him. He was reluctant to come to tutoring in the school holidays which made his attitude shift and his growth even the more rewarding! His family took him to his first day of school with a lot more confidence that he was ready for his new journey.
Letter and Number Recognition, Reception
I tutored this student in Reception for her letter and number recognition. She was below the expected level for her age for speech and communication, and needed help recognising letters, sounds and numbers. Within a term she had improved significantly, starting off knowing three letters and finishing knowing 13.
Year 5 English
At the beginning of the year this student’s reading, writing and grammar were at a Year 3 level. By the end of the term, we had moved from Year 3 level books to comprehension and writing prompts at a Year 4 level.
Year 5 English and Maths, SEN
I taught a Year 5 student who was withdrawing from school attendance due to anxiety surrounding her dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia. By having the one-to-one tutoring, she gained some confidence and positivity surrounding her learning and her school attendance had significantly improved.
EAL Student
I taught a student who was very low with his letter and sound recognition as a result of speaking another language at home. His grammar, syntax and vocabulary were quite muddled so our sessions contained a mix of letter and sound recognition activities, as well as oral language development. His post tests showed he went from knowing 11 out of 26 letters and sounds, to knowing 24 out of 26 letters and sounds.
Hobbies
I love travelling and cooking and learning about different backgrounds, languages and cultures! I also love languages and have studied them throughout my schooling.
