"Ana Baric tutored my son when he was in 5th grade attending an all boys private school in NYC. Ana is a bright, dedicated and a very reliable tutor who is always on time. She helped my son work on a 12 page history term paper that he earned a grade of a A on. Her English and writing skills are excellent. Ana is a vey patient and caring tutor who really cares about helping the student achieve academic success. She was very helpful all the time and my son really enjoyed working with Ana. She will go above and beyond to help the student. I highly recommend Ana as a tutor. "

2014-2015 London School of Economics (MSc in Comparative Politics)
2008-2012 Columbia University (B.A. in Political Science)
I scored extremely highly in my own SATs.
I have extensive experience in the social sciences, with a particular interest in Politics/Government, History, and English. I went to Columbia University in NYC for my undergrad, where I prepped students for the USA college application process, and the SAT, ACT, SAT II tests, as well as on essay writing and interview practice.
After graduating from the LSE I worked for a risk consulting company and then was a financial reporter for Thomson Reuters. I am about to begin a part time job in Parliament (anti-corruption matters across party lines!) in mid-October which I am very excited about.
I take tutoring seriously and am results-oriented, but also have a sense of humor and believe that students work better with tutors they can approach freely and comfortably.
I have been privately tutoring for 7 years, and started at Columbia University, where I tutored Global Politics, English, American History, SAT Verbal and Writing twice a week. I also taught the Spring Semester weekly intermediate class for 15 speakers of English as a Second Language for one term.
Undergraduate Political Science – I worked with Chris for 2 months during his year abroad at LSE. Together we looked through his assignments for his Political Theory, People, Politics and Institutions in Europe, and International Relations of Western Europe modules.
I have also tutored extensively in London, working with students on their logic, essay writing skills and, in particular, Middle Eastern Politics and History.
Hobbies and Interests
I am an Eastern Europe politics buff and am currently an advisor for an NGO, the Foundation for Post Conflict Development. I am very interested in international relations, and have been able to learn about the world around me by working as an investigative reporter in Sarajevo, interning for the US State Department in Geneva, and interning for the Council on Foreign Relations in NYC. I have also developed my finance acumen by working for Societe Generale and reporting on financial markets for Reuters.
“As the Managing Director of Columbia University Tutoring and Translating Agency (CUTTA) for the 2011-2012 term, I have had the privilege of working with Ana Baric. Ana has worked at CUTTA from June 2010 to May 2012, and her areas of tutoring expertise include History, English/Essay Writing, and SAT/ACT Verbal.
CUTTA has over 60 employees, and Ana stands out as one of the agency’s most reliable tutors. Being a tutor for CUTTA is a highly independent position that requires the individual to not only demonstrate a high level of proficiency in their subjects but also have strong communication skills and maintain professional decorum of punctuality, responsibility, and accountability. Ana embodies all of these traits, and she consistently conducted great tutoring work for CUTTA. She is a diligent tutor with an excellent client satisfaction record.
Ana has worked with three clients over the past two years, and her long-term relationships with her clients illustrates how satisfied her clients have been with Ana’s tutoring abilities. Furthermore, Ana’s patient and friendly demeanor is well received by her tutoring clients as it helps make learning challenging material easier for them whilst eliminating distracting stress/anxiety levels.
CUTTA is very fortunate to have had such a hardworking and intelligent employee like Ana as a part of its team”

“We wholeheartedly recommend Ana for a tutoring position. She was a really terrific tutor–patient, enthusiastic, and extremely insightful. She helped our son with essay writing, and there’s no doubt that she helped turn him into a more thoughtful, analytic writer, which we can see even more now that he’s in college. The fact that he was able to take what be learned from her and translate that into his own work speaks volumes about how capable she was.”
