About Me

I have five years of experience tutoring Economics, Business, History and English Literature to students studying GCSEs, A-Levels, IB and university courses. I also tutor English and verbal reasoning at 11+ and 13+ and provide tutorials for interview technique, essay technique and personal statements. I have prepared pupils successfully for entry to schools and universities. My academic experiences make me familiar with exam technique and study methods. I am enthusiastic and help my pupils become independent learners. I was called to the Bar in 2017 and my hobbies include gallery visits, theatre and badminton.

Year 6 English, History and Geography

Kevin was a nine-year-old moving between schools and he needed tuition during the interim period. We discussed a combination of English, History and Geography. He found my tutoring style engaging as he was able to ask plenty of questions and found me encouraging. He became more enthusiastic about learning.

A Level Economics

Michael struggled with Economics A-level as he found the concepts difficult to grasp. I helped him learn the key definitions and understand how to explain the diagrams. We discussed real-world economic developments and these examples helped him bridge the interface between theory and practice. He became more confident with explaining economic ideas and structuring his answers to essay questions.

A Level Economics

Emma found it difficult to concentrate during her classes at school for Economics. I adapted the curriculum to her interests, using the fashion industry as a prominent example in our discussions. She has found the subject both more interesting and relevant as a result. Her improved knowledge of the terminology and diagrams has helped her to communicate her ideas with confidence and study independently too.

A Level History

Olga lacked confidence in her source analysis for History. I showed her how to draw on specific details in the sources and place them in their wider historical context. In this process, she learnt more about American history and how to write a compelling analysis under exam conditions. Her weekly source analysis practice helped her achieve the grade requirements for her university offer at Oxford.Undergraduate Support

I have worked with several students for Undergraduate preparation, I have included two below.

I tutored History to a second-year student, assisting with background knowledge as well as essay technique. She learnt to apply the points we discussed to her coursework as well as her subsequent essay writing.

I also taught Economics to a pupil who was studying while managing a business part-time. She was new to many of the technical concepts. I helped her to obtain a strong grounding in theory and practice.

Undergraduate Business

Maya was enthusiastic about Business but struggled with the terminology. I explained the key terms and taught her to integrate real-world examples of businesses into her analysis. She wrote several essays for me and I provided her with feedback on her structure and analysis.

Undergraduate Business

Matthew was studying Business after taking time out in his education. He was knowledgeable about the subject, so our tutorials focused on developing his ability to engage with his ideas in depth. Matthew’s writing became more succinct and his evaluation improved.

Postgraduate Academic Writing

Shell was undertaking a Masters alongside his professional work. He had not produced academic work in several years and sought assistance for essay planning. I helped him with his research methodology and provided suggestions for his academic writing. He was able to meet his deadlines successfully.

Hobbies and Interests

 My hobbies include gallery visits, playing badminton and going to the theatre.
