Abi

"Both Zane and Tamar like you and the way you work with them. Zane has mentioned that some of the work you have covered has been spot on and directly helped him with his tests. With Tamar, as it is early days, everything seems fine. I think what we found with her previous tutor is that there wasn't enough communication about the things she needed help with, but lots on her good work. You are providing more balanced feedback so we are happy with how things are so far."

About Me

My specialist subjects are English and Verbal Reasoning. I also teach Maths (Primary and 11+), GCSE and A-Level Sociology and Economics.

I believe what makes me a good tutor is my method of communicating with students which is tailored to their specific needs. I ensure that I develop rapport with students and understand exactly where their issue lies before bringing tailored and targeted work that they will enjoy and that will challenge them. I am very open and easy to talk to so students feel comfortable. What also makes me a good tutor is an open dialogue I have with parents so they are assured of their child’s progress or anything else they can do to help with this. I am organised, punctual and creative and have developed my skills over my years of tutoring, constantly looking for ways to improve myself.

Recent tuition

I have tutored over 75 pupils from years 3-6 in English, Maths, Verbal and Non-verbal reasoning specialising in 11+ and entrance exam preparation. My students gained admission to prestigious private and grammar schools including The Latymer School, Queen Elizabeth’s School and Christ’s Hospital School. My students often attained high grades in school and their confidence increased rapidly through my tuition

Currently I am tutoring pupils in Years 5, 6, 10, 11 and 12 in English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning, Sociology and Economics. My clients are extremely pleased with my service and have given positive feedback. I ensure I assess students in the first session and then outline the topics they need the most help with and provide stimulating classwork and homework in subsequent lessons. I use a plethora of exam preparation resources which I have sourced and collated in order for students to familiarise themselves with successful exam technique.

Hobbies and Interests

Aside from tutoring I enjoy reading, playing netball and writing. I write recreationally and have marketing and communications experience whilst working at Thomson Reuters and take on small copywriting projects from time to time. I am also a mentor to young people in my local area.

Client Testimonials

Client one (December 2016):

We’re really happy with you and how the lessons are going – far more than I expected tbh!

You’re always on time/early and have time to feed back to us afterwards, which is really helpful, and you’re always professional, friendly and polite. Ruby seems to absolutely thrive with the one-to-one attention and the academic stimulation you give her, which I’m sure she doesn’t get in school. She does the homework happily and almost always without me asking her (amazing!), and skips out happily from the sessions, as you’ve seen. She certainly seems to be learning loads and you keep the pace up for her. So we’re very happy at present. Nothing negative to say

Client two (January 2017): Both Zane and Tamar like you and the way you work with them. Zane has mentioned that some of the work you have covered has been spot on and directly helped him with his tests. With Tamar, as it is early days, everything seems fine. I think what we found with her previous tutor is that there wasn’t enough communication about the things she needed help with, but lots on her good work. You are providing more balanced feedback so we are happy with how things are so far.
