Thomas’s Battersea Prep School, 28 to 40 Battersea High Street, is a co-educational independent day school. It has grown out of the school founded in 1971 by Joanna Thomas to provide for the needs of her own young family. Now it caters for 600 boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 11. The motto of the Thomas’s school is “Be kind” and as the headmaster, Ben Thomas, says “Happy children thrive”.

On the same site is Thomas’s Battersea Senior school; opened in 2021 and teaching children from 11 to 18 years old.

Thomas’s kindergarten is situated in the crypt of St Mary’s Church, Battersea Church Road and provides for about 45 children aged from two and a half to four years old.

Children can be introduced to the admission process from birth, at this stage registration is non-selective.The admissions department covers all the Thomas’s schools, there are four independent day schools in inner London, all over-subscribed, selecting pupils on merit. They are all co-educational and have a Church of England ethos.
