Swinbrook House Nursery School, Marylebone is a small light-filled nursery just off Marylebone High Street, very close to Regent’s Park. They are a term time only nursery, offering full time and sessional day care. The small numbers at the nursery mean that each child receives valuable individual attention and education from the staff. The curriculum at the nursery is in line with the Early Years Foundation Stages (EYFS), with a particular focus on looking at the individual needs of each child. The nursery aims to provide an enjoyable and challenging environment where staff look for ways to extend knowledge and interests. The staff observe, evaluate, assess and deliver well planned activities and opportunities to encourage children in gaining their next steps, always with goal of school readiness. Swinbrook House has a good relationship with lots of the leading prep schools in the area where many of their children secure places to, for example, Abercorn School, Connaught House, The Village Prep School and Wetherby. Everyday an array of outdoor activities are planned, using either Regent’s Park or Paddington Street Gardens, both of which are minutes away from the nursery. For more structured learning the children are divided into three groups, Little Acorns (age 1 – 2), Little Willows (age 2 – 3) and Oak Class (age 3- 5). Each class have age appropriate activities carefully tailored to stage of development your child is at, and by the Oak Class the focus is on preparing your child for the big step up to school. Hot lunches and cold teas are provided by a catering company called Little Tums, who specialise in catering for nursery children. There is a very, ‘village feel’ to this nursery which creates a close community with the children and parents.
