St Swithun’s School is an independent day and boarding school for girls aged 4-18, situated on 45 acres in rural Hampshire.

St Swithun’s Preschool welcomes girls and boys aged 3-4, before becoming solely a girls’ school from age 4 onwards. Preschool follows the Early Years’ Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. Students thus progress through to St Swithun’s Prep School, under the Headship of Jonathan Brough.

From age 11 (Y7), St Swithun’s School offers full, weekly and flexi boarding, thus accommodating the preferences of each of their families. There are 6 boarding houses, including Leroy House for first year girls (Y7), and Finlay House especially for Upper Sixth (Y13) girls. Wellbeing and pastoral care is nurtured at St Swithun’s, with a school counsellor (clinical psychologist) available for in-person drop in sessions, and for individual/group sessions.

The School facilities boast a performing arts centre with a 600-seat auditorium, a music school, an art and technology block, sports hall, library and ICT facility, two swimming pools, 12 tennis courts, and a grass athletics track with all-weather field areas. As such, there are a vast array of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities on hand for the girls to participate in.

Whilst not an academically selective school, St Swithun’s has a brilliant reputation for ‘value added’, and is in the top 3% for this category in GCSEs. The school adopted the High Performance Learning framework, and thus was accredited as a High Performance Learning World Class School in 2020 — they have been reaccredited for HPL in 2023. This framework encourages and empowers the girls at St Swithun’s in their ways of thinking and behaving, to catalyse their learning and develop more independence and self-confidence.

St Swithun’s Leavers’ destinations include Bristol, Durham, Edinburgh, Exeter and Manchester, as well as University College London (UCL) and Cambridge.
