St Paul’s Girls’ School is an independent school for girls aged 11-18. It is situated in the heart of London, in Hammersmith, and was opened in 1904 by the Worshipful Company Of Mercers. Starting with 54 ‘Paulinas’, the School now accommodates around 800 girls.

Middle Fourth (Y7) girls have ‘sisters’ consisting of a UIV (Year 8) girl, or ‘buddy’, and a girl from the Head of School Team in the VIII (Year 13), or ‘year leader’.

The main sports at St Paul’s are netball, lacrosse, and rowing from LV (Year 9) onwards. Rowing is very popular, culminating with the National Schools’ Regatta and Women’s Henley Regatta. Alternative sports include kickboxing, karate, fencing and cricket. Despite the common limitations of an urban setting, the school boasts their own sports facilities; a modern and airy sports hall with gym facilities and dance studio, and a new pavilion which overlooks the School’s courts and fields. There is also the School’s own swimming pool.

There is a vast array of extracurriculars available for the girls, spanning from Crochet Club to Dissection Society, from Junior Feminist Society to Feminist Society. St Paul’s is very academically selective, and renowned for their stellar academic results. The School’s admissions process is rigorous, and designed to identify those who will prosper; girls who can demonstrate ability to ‘reason, articulate and show quality of thought’. Predominantly, girls progress to American and Canadian Universities, followed by Oxbridge, UCL, KCL and LSE. In 2023, 47 Paulinas achieved places at Oxbridge.
