Salisbury Cathedral School resides upon 27 acres of land in Wiltshire. It is one of the oldest educational institutions in the world, having been founded in 1091 by St Osmund, the nephew of William the Conqueror and Bishop of Salisbury. It became fully co-educational, admitting girls to the school, in 1987. It is an independent day and boarding school for students aged 3-13. The school is not academically selective, though admissions for their choral offering are highly competitive, and they are renowned for their choristers.

There is one boarding house, and boarding is available for students from Year 3 onwards. The school offers full, weekly, flexi, and occasional boarding, and weekend boarding for Day Choristers needing to sing over the weekend.

Music is undoubtedly a core strength of the school, and the aspect by which the school is most well-known. 95% of Salisbury Cathedral School students play a musical instrument. For singing alone there are five school choirs and two cathedral choirs, and it is introduced into the curriculum in Reception and Year 1.

Salisbury Cathedral School’s 27 acres accommodate their on-site sports facilities of an all weather Astro pitch, a Gymnasium, a newly renovated 20m outdoor heated swimming pool, and five grass pitches. The School also has partnerships with Salisbury Hockey Club, Farley Cricket Club, Salisbury FC Youth, and Downton Leisure Centre, whereby the school makes use of their facilities and expert coaches.

Salisbury Cathedral School Leavers’ destinations typically include Bryanston, St Mary’s Calne and Eton College.
