Wellbeing & Pastoral Care

At Rose Hill School our pastoral care is woven through every aspect of school life. We believe every single person (pupils, staff and teachers) has the right to be listened to, and to have their opinion valued.

Our whole school pastoral program promotes the five keys to success: organisation, confidence, persistence, getting along, and resilience. And these are all held together by the key ring of integrity. We teach these character attributes which develop these important life skills and we publicly celebrate pupils who excel in these areas.

Advice For Parents

We are a co-ed non-selective school and look to create an equal balance of girls and boys across the school. For Kindergarten, registration is open from birth and places are offered 18 months in advance of their September start. For children who join at later stages they are invited in for a taster day and places are awarded following a successful day. Siblings are given priority but in years that are full we operate a waiting list system.

Typical Child

We don't set out to attract any one type of pupil however we prize qualities such as kindness, an inquisitive mind as well as having a “give it a go” attitude.

Financial Assistance

Fees for Year 7&8 are 50% discounted plus Awards are available in addition to talented students.

Highly Regarded For

What makes us stand out is our outstanding educational offering balanced with a broad co-curricular programme. Our inspiring staff deliver a hugely creative, skills based curriculum both inside and outside of the classroom making the most of our purpose built, light and airy classrooms as well as our 15 acres of beautiful grounds and outdoor classroom.

Notable Points

Our SEND department is very much a part of the whole school. We have a Learning Support Teacher in the Early Years Department, the PrePrep Department and our SENCO is based in the Prep Department. SEND provision is offered to pupils requiring intervention that is additional to or different from the activities normally available to pupils at Rose Hill School. This provision may be long term because they have a Specific Learning Difficulty or Need e.g. Dyslexia or Dyspraxia or short term because they require ‘booster’ activities to close the gap between their attainments and those of their peers.

Leavers' Destinations

We are very proud of all the pupils who have sat their exams and got their first choice of school. Schools are not just about academic excellence and the scholarships are a testament to the all-round education that we provide, nevertheless academic and sporting scholarships were achieved.

Our pupils go to a wide range of schools both local and further afield. There is some variation every year in where our pupils go with a mixture of independent and grammar schools.

Our results at 11+ were extremely high with nearly 80% of pupils passing, a significant proportion of pupils also achieved the highest scores in maths, English and reasoning following significant curriculum development since Deputy Head & Director Studies, Philippa Lang’s, appointment three years ago.

In January 2022 we held our fifth Future Schools Fair. Twenty-five schools from across the south of England were involved in the event with over a hundred parents. It was a great success and has become an annual event on the school calendar.

Last year’s leavers went to the following schools:

o Bethany School (Sport Scholarship)
o Tonbridge School (Art Scholarship)
o Bede’s School (Swimming Scholarship)
o Kent College
o Battle Abbey
o Mayfield School (Academic & Dance Scholarship)
o Skinners Grammar
o Judd
o Tunbridge Wells Girls’ Grammar
o Tunbridge Wells Boys Grammar
o Tonbridge Grammar
