The historic Repton School was founded in 1557, and incorporates many of the original buildings from the 7th century Anglo-Saxon Benedictine abbey and the 12th century Augustine priory upon which the School was built. Set across a 55-acre site, Repton School is an independent boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 3 to 18. The school comprises five ‘pillars’ to help Reptonians achieve a sense of balance in their education: Pastoral Care; Academia; Sport; Extra Curricular and Spirit of Place.

The contemporary facilities of Repton School boast buildings such as the glass-fronted Science Priory, which contains a 200-seat lecture theatre, with state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment, including 3D projection, a rooftop observatory, labs, seminar rooms, and even a reptile room. Sports facilities include a multi-million-pound Sports Centre, two floodlit water-based Astro Turf hockey pitches, a state-of-the-art, full size indoor hockey facility, a 25m indoor swimming pool with spectator area, two indoor and 12 outdoor tennis courts, netball and squash courts and a Strength & Conditioning Suite.

Repton offers full boarding, of which those students form around 70% of the student population, There is strong integration with the day students, too. There are ten Houses in total, numbering six for boys and four for girls. Each is home to approximately 60 pupils, for whom dining together three times a day is the norm and fosters closeness in their communities. The boarding houses all comprise a Housemaster or Housemistress, Matron, Resident Tutor, and House Tutors, who are all available for support.
