Radley College is an independent boarding school for boys aged 13-18, and was founded in 1847 by William Sewell. In accordance with Radley’s Christian ethos, there are daily services in the School’s historically beautiful Chapel, as well as Sunday Mass. Tradition is at the heart of Radley, and the School maintains their unique character through their lingo; ‘Socials’ (Boarding Houses), ‘Dons’ (Teachers) and ‘Shells’ (Year 9), for example.

The grounds boast a lake, a golf course, woodland, and extensive games pitches. Facilities include a 25 metre swimming pool and adjoining 3.5 metre diving pit, 5 squash courts, a gymnasium and a real tennis court. There is a dedicated School of Art in Clocktower Court, at the heart of the College, with 5 studios, and Sewell Centre Gallery – a purpose-built gallery which exhibits internationally established artists, local and up-and-coming artists.

Admissions are academically selective, and extremely competitive; as Radley states, ‘for 13+ entry boys can be registered either from birth or at a later date’.’Funded Places’ are awarded to talented boys for 11+, 13+ and 16+ entry, and can amount to up to 100% of the fees for academic, sports, music, art or drama in the College. Scholarships are largely honorary (or up to 5% of the annual fees), and only available at 13+ in academics, sports, music, art or drama.
