Quainton Hall is a co-educational school, based in Harrow, for pupils aged 2 to 13. Girls tend to leave for senior school at age 11, while most boys stay until age 13. The school has quite an international feel, with more than one in five pupils speaking English as a second language, and many families coming from the Asian community in North-West London. The school is now part of the John Lyon Foundation, meaning pupils can progress to the John Lyon senior school on leaving if desired. The school is strong in music and has good facilities onsite, including AstroTurf pitches, a gym and pool. The school has high academic standards but balances these with a friendly family atmosphere and an insistence on the importance of treating each child as an individual. In its most recent inspection, the ISI rated it ‘Excellent’ for both academic achievement and personal development.
