Parsons Green Prep School
1 Fulham Park Road, London, SW6 4LJ
Founded in 2001, this is still a relatively young school. It is selective on entry to reception and there is no nursery provision. Housed in a former Victorian villa, the school is light, spacious and well designed. Good outdoor space onsite means playtime and breaktimes are usually always outside – including a good space for the early years, including a hut for art and reading, a sandpit, play shop and fire station. Football, tennis and netball usually take place on the Astro-turfed playground. The school day is structured around more formal learning in the morning and more creative learning in the afternoon, with lots of cross curricular topic work. Independent thinking and questioning are strongly encouraged, with the Friday assembly dedicated to a Thinking Assembly. This promotion of considered thought and reasoning extends into extra-curricular activities, with chess being of the most popular (starting with Chesslings Club in Year 1). Recent introductions include a weekly STEAM (science, technology, engineering and maths) lesson and an after school engineering club. They have recently remodelled the Reception Classroom, created a new purpose-built STEAM room and relocated their library.
