Parkgate House School is a co-educational day school for children aged between 2 ½ to 11. The School was established in 1987, and occupies a large, beautiful Georgian House overlooking Clapham Common.

Nursery pupils, aged between 2 ½ and 4, follow the Early Years’ Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. The pupils can enjoy the fully equipped multi-sensory playground, and with their teachers embark on woodland trails, and discovery walks in Clapham Common. The Reception and Pre-Preparatory children (aged 4-7) continue with the EYFS, and work towards the Early Learning Goals (ELG).

Upon entering Prep years, (ages 7-11), the unique curriculum addition of Horse-Riding is integrated into the timetable for the autumn and summer terms. This subject takes place at Stag Lodge Stables, next to Richmond Park. Parkgate House School further makes use of its London location, utilising Devas in Stormont Road daily for drama, ballet, art, visiting workshops, and school and parent assemblies. Swimming takes place at Latchmere Swimming Pool in Battersea. Sports Day takes place at Battersea Park Millennium Arena, and Parkgate uses Clapham Common for athletics, cricket, football, hockey, netball and rugby, thanks to their immediate proximity to each other.

Parkgate House encourages inter-year connection and community with its House system, wherein the students are divided into 4 Houses: Greeks (green), Egyptians (yellow), Aztecs (blue) and Romans (red). This is further encouraged by the School’s student Council implementation of a peer mentor scheme, for older students to help younger students enjoy positive play. Students begin to prepare for the 11+ examination towards the end of Year 5. Leavers’ Destinations include Whitgift, Emanuel, Woldingham and Dulwich College, with several scholarships being offered to Parkgate House students each year.
