Oundle School, Church Street, Oundle, Peterborough is a co-educational independent day and boarding school for children from  11 to 18 years old. It was founded in by Sir William Laxton of the Worshipful Company of Grocers of the City of London in 1666. It became co-educational thirty years ago.  There are 15 boarding houses which  provide for about 850 boarders.  About 270 pupils come daily. Overall, there are slightly more boys than girls. It takes children from over the United Kingdom and  from a wide range of countries abroad. Parents who work abroad appreciate the strong input of pastoral care that is central to Oundle’s philosophy. According to the head, Sarah Kerr-Dineen, her pupils acquire “a sense of decency”. They are not arrogant but each pupil’s individual curiosity and potential has been nurtured, they are ambitious and Oundle is proud of shaping citizens who will fulfil their potential in the world of the future.
