Notting Hill Prep School is an Independent School for boys and girls aged 4 to 13, located in the Ladbroke Grove area. Notting Hill Prep is proud to call itself a, ‘Thinking School’, one of the few schools with this accreditation. A ‘Thinking School’ is an educational community in which all members share a common commitment to giving regular careful thought to everything that takes place. This involves both students and staff learning how to think reflectively, critically and creatively, and employing these skills and techniques in the co-construction of a meaningful curriculum and associated activities. Successful outcomes are reflected in students across a wide range of abilities, demonstrating independent and co-operative learning skills, high levels of achievement and both enjoyment and satisfaction in learning. Benefits will be shown in ways in which all members of the community interact with and show consideration for each other and in the positive psychological well-being of both students and staff. At Notting Hill there is an ethos to prepare children for a lifetime of learning, often referred to as, ‘lighting a fire‚’ which will, they hope, burn for life. The school take a very active role when deciding on future schools at the 11+ and 13+. They will discuss with parents and children the schools that they believe will be suited to them and set objectives early. Notting Hill prep consistently feeds some of the top London day schools, such as Godolphin & Latymer, Highgate and Harrodian at 11+ and boarding schools, Eton, Wellington and Westminster at 13+. Notting Hill Prep encourages the membership of various after school clubs to their pupils. Sport is considered an important part of life at the school and they take advantage of various local venues such as Perkes Field, Westway Sports Centre and Linford Christie Stadium and Kensington Leisure Centre. In addition to sport, music and drama are distinctive features of Notting Hill Prep where the emphasis is on enjoyment, teamwork and developing skills that provide fulfilment and promote self-confidence.
