Notable Academic Facilities

They are fortunate to have two specialist science laboratories at NHP, one in their Upper and one in their Middle School buildings. All of their classrooms have interactive whiteboards. Their pupils have use of iPads, Chromebooks and laptops. They also have a 3-D printer and a computer room.

Wellbeing & Pastoral Care

They place great importance on their pastoral care at NHP, ensuring that the well-being of their pupils is a top priority. Their comprehensive well-being programme is meticulously designed to incorporate pastoral activities into the school day, safeguarding the children's mental health and fostering a supportive school environment. In addition to their Safeguarding team, they have a School Counsellor, a School Nurse and a dedicated well-being team. They also have more than one school dog for the children to visit.

Advice For Parents

Children with siblings who are current or past pupils (having completed Year 6 or Year 8 at NHP). These pupils are guaranteed a Reception place, provided they are registered by 1st October of the academic year they turn 2. For example, children born between 1st September 2024 and 31st August 2025 should register by 1st October 2026.

Typical Child

There is no typical NHP pupil, they celebrate both the academically rigorous and the courageously creative. They are proud to think differently, and so are their children. They are currently the only independent Prep school in England with accredited Advanced Thinking School status and NHP children embody their values.

Financial Assistance

They do offer a monthly payment option for school fees. They also offer means and academically tested bursaries into year 7 and year 4.

Highly Regarded For

Notting Hill Prep is most highly regarded right now for being the only advanced-accredited “Thinking School” in England, which places a strong emphasis on developing children’s thinking skills, independent learning and metacognition. Their children refer to NHP as 'no happier place'.

Notable Points

They acknowledge and respond to the differing needs of all children, whatever their cultural or ethnic background and experiences and whatever their physical and educational needs. They understand the importance of providing a challenging and enjoyable programme of learning and development and they undertake to make reasonable adjustments to enable all to participate and feel valued and supported. They have a SENDCO who works closely with a team of Learning Support assistants, including Speech and Language therapists, Play therapists, OT's and off site classes at Emerson House.

Leavers' Attainment

From 196 senior school applications that progressed to interview, an impressive 163 resulted in offers or waitlist places - a testament to the character, charm, and thoughtfulness of their pupils as conversationalists and young thinkers. They are particularly proud of the thirteen scholarships awarded this year across academic, creative and highly selective schools such as Latymer Upper, UCS, Westminster and Radley.

Leavers' Destinations

As ever their leavers head to a wonderfully diverse range of schools. At 11+, Harrodian, Francis Holland (Regent's Park), City of London, Highgate, Godolphin & Latymer, Ibstock Place, JAGS and South Hampstead. Many pupils staying with them through to 13+, have deferred entry offers from top London day schools including St Paul's and King's College Wimbledon, as well as prestigious boarding schools such as Brighton College, Marlborough, Wellington, Harrow, St Edward's Oxford, Bradfield and Bedales.

Sports

The NHP Sports Department recognises that keeping fit and active has a profoundly positive impact on children's learning and mental health, embodying the old adage "a healthy body, a healthy mind". Their approach to PE aims to foster not only physical fitness but also overall well-being, contributing to the holistic development of our pupils. They have space on site and they also use venues such as Kensington Leisure Centre, Westway Sports Centre, Linford Christie Stadium and Kensington Memorial and Avondale Park.

Art

Art, craft, and design are integral aspects of the children's learning at NHP, serving to hone skills of self-expression and imagination while providing mindful and kinesthetic benefits through making and doing. They have two dedicated art rooms. This facility is equipped with a full design and technology function, sewing machines for textile work, and an in-house kiln for ceramics. NHP has a history of successful scholarship applications, with past pupils earning art scholarships to prestigious institutions such as Brighton College, Francis Holland NW!, Marlborough College and Queen's College.

Drama

Drama at NHP is a source of immense joy, allowing pupils to experience the excitement of performance while building valuable life skills. They currently have use of 2 school halls or the local Serbian Church hall but we will soon be starting our building project of a brand new theatre in our Middle School.

Music

Music is an irresistible force at NHP. They have individual music booths and a large music room. They teach over 150 individual lessons each week. There is an abundance of both formal and informal opportunities throughout the year for our children at every stage of their musical development. They have a vibrant curriculum which ensures that pupils are immersed in the joy and discipline of music from an early age, instilling a love and reverence for musical expression that we hope will stay with them throughout their lives.

Dance

They have a particularly enthusiastic Irish Dancing Club at NHP. They have use of either of our 2 school halls for practice.
