Newton Preparatory School
149 Battersea Park Road, London, SW8 4BX
A large school, with 4 classes in each year group, that benefits enormously from the extra space available just south of the river. Generous space for art rooms, dedicated science labs and good outdoor playing space. The focus is on engaging curiosity and creativity to develop life long learners who will excel academically. Despite the larger class sizes (20 in each class), teaching is excellent and children make very good progress. The set up at Apple Nursery is more formal than most nurseries, given that it is on the main school site (separate playground), and teaching is structured with good results. Nearly all children progress to Reception. In the Lower and Upper Schools most sport takes place on site, with a large indoor gym (gymnastics is the focus in the Early Years) and an Astroturf all weather pitch for netball etc. Some summer sports take place at Battersea Park: athletics and tennis.
