Mayfield School is a Catholic independent boarding and day school for girls aged 11-18. Mayfield is situated in the Sussex countryside, having been founded in 1872 by Cornelia Connelly and the Society of the Holy Child Jesus (SHCJ). To date, the school has maintained their spirituality, and religious ethos of ‘Actions Not Words’, following their spirit of service.

Mayfield School has a strong tradition of academic excellence, with 84% A*-B Grades at A-Level. Leavers’ destinations include top Russell Group Universities such as Cardiff, Exeter and Newcastle, as well as Oxford and Cambridge. Mayfield boasts their own purpose-built Equestrian Centre within the school grounds, allowing the girls to stable their horses and have them looked after by a team of full-time staff, regardless of the girls’ boarding status. In parallel with their provision, Mayfield also accommodates a highly successful Equestrian Squad. Other notable facilities of the School include their Ceramics Studio, Chapel and Concert Hall. For Sports, Mayfield girls can enjoy the on-site facilities of an all-weather astro pitch, swimming pool and cricket pitch, among others.

Boarding and Day students are equally weighted in the School, thus allowing an integrated family feel between all girls in attendance. Both full, and flexi boarding is offered to pupils at Mayfield, depending on their needs – at weekends the girls are able to return home if they wish. Mayfield School has four boarding Houses: Leeds House (Years 7 & 8), St Gabriel’s House (Years 9 & 10), St Michael’s House (Year 11) and St Dunstan’s House (Years 12 & 13). Each House is led by their own Housemistress, who is also part of the teaching staff. She is supported by a boarding team comprising an Assistant Housemistress, two Resident Tutors, and a Graduate Assistant.
