Kew Green Preparatory School is an independent, co-educational day school in London for 4-11 year olds, with an onsite nursery taking children from 2 years old. Often described as ‘a hidden gem’, Kew Green Preparatory School is housed in an attractive four storey building, surrounded by mature trees and nestled in a peaceful corner of Kew Green. We are fortunate to be housed in an attractive building backing onto the River Thames. With Kew Green cricket pitch directly opposite and the world-famous Royal Botanical Gardens next door, the site is a haven of peace and quiet and an ideal place to work, learn and play.

Notable Academic Facilities

Our curriculum is split into Lower School (ages 4-7) and Upper School (ages 7-11). We also have a nursery on site for ages 2 and up. For all age groups the average class size is 20. In the Lower School, particular attention is given to numeracy and all aspects of literacy - reading, spelling, grammar, handwriting and comprehension. Essential oral, listening and questioning skills are also developed. At every stage, the children are given an awareness and understanding of the world around them. Our curriculum is enlivened and enriched by visitors to the school, educational trips and clubs. We aim to relate academic learning to the real world beyond the classroom, whether this is with visits to our neighbour The Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew, botany lessons by the River Thames or by meeting eminent guests who come to speak at the school. Our curriculum is geared to achieving success at 11+ when the children are in Year 6 but our curriculum remains strong, vibrant and equally balanced between all subjects. This approach invariably produces excellent academic results.

Wellbeing & Pastoral Care

The pastoral care and well-being of our pupils is paramount. By actively celebrating our pupils' personal achievements we extol a belief that personal growth and development deserves as much recognition as academic and sporting or musical achievements. Merit Assemblies held each week award accolades including Sports Star, French Speaker, Musician of the Week and merit certificates to recognise those children who have excelled in effort, achievement, attitude and contribution. High expectations in behaviour, as in learning, generally combine to produce excellent results.

Advice For Parents

Registration for a nursery or Reception place is strongly recommended from birth.

Highly Regarded For

At Kew Green Preparatory School, we offer our children the opportunity to succeed, be recognised and be valued. Our pupils achieve their full potential - academically, physically and socially - throughout their journey at the school. We instil tolerance and respect for others, we celebrate diversity and emphasise the importance of contributing to society. Our children develop resilience, enabling them to embrace change, question that which they don’t understand and to be brave enough to make mistakes.
