Heathside Preparatory School Hampstead is an independent school for boys and girls aged 2-13. The school is non-academically selective, and non denominational. Heathside describes their ethos and purpose as being ‘friendly, inclusive and academic’. 

Sports at Heathside Prep include football, cricket, rounders, basketball and netball, all taught by specialist teachers. More unusual sports at Heathside Prep include capoeira, a combination of dance and martial arts. The Music provision at the school allows for frequent concerts and performances throughout the year, and comprises individual lessons for students, combined groups such as string group and choir, and forms a part of the school’s curriculum beginning in Nursery.

There is a School Council formed of students from each year group, encouraging responsibility and developing students’ leadership skills. The school describes themselves as being “informal and caring”, and a school which “fosters a high level of compassion, individual responsibility, self-motivation and achievement.” The school is part of the Duke’s Education group, which entails priority entrance for pupils progressing to another Duke’s school. Leavers from Heathside Preparatory School typically progress at either 11+ or 13+ onto schools such as Maida Vale, Wetherby, Mill Hill and Stowe.
