Hazlegrove Prep School is an independent boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 2-13, residing upon 200 acres of parkland in Somerset. Hazlegrove Prep forms one of three schools in the King’s Bruton Foundation reaching back to 1519, alongside the senior school, King’s Bruton, and Sunny Hill Nursery. The prep school moved to Hazlegrove House after the Second World War in 1947.

Accompanying the extensive playing fields on the 200 acre estate, are Hazlegrove’s sports facilities, including a 25m 5 lane indoor swimming pool, a 6 hole golf course, two floodlit golf driving nets, two squash courts, and a mirrored dance studio and theatre. Music and drama are popular pursuits throughout the school.

There are three boarding houses for students aged 7-13: Blackford for Hazlegrove Girls, Lankester for Junior Boys, and School House for the Senior Boys. For Prep students, extracurriculars range from Arabic and Athletics, to Woodwork and Zenspiration.

Nursery and Pre-Prep at Hazlegrove are housed in the 18th Century residence’s former walled kitchen garden. Pupils in these years follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum until the end of Reception. The school is academically thorough from Reception onwards, as students progress, and has a reputation for their academic strength. Leavers typically go on to top British schools such as King’s Bruton (the largest cohort), Marlborough, Ampleforth, Sherbourne and Millfield.
