Godstowe Preparatory School is a day and boarding school for girls aged 7-13. There is also a Pre-Prep and Nursery which is co-educational for children aged 3-7. Godstowe was founded in 1900, and became England’s first all-girls Prep School.

The School sits on 12 acres of land in Chiltern parkland, allowing for their own Tennis and Netball Courts, a Lacrosse & Athletics Field, and an Astroturf. Other facilities include the Jubilee Sports Hall, the JK Theatre, Chef’s Kitchen; opened by (ex-Godstowe parent) Mary Berry and a competition-size swimming pool, opened by Olympic Medallist Rebecca Adlington.

Around a third of Godstowe’s girls choose to board, with a junior boarding house known as Highlands, and two senior houses, called Walker and Turner. Full, weekly, and part-time (flexi) boarding is available, sympathetic to the needs of the families. Weekend activities are hosted for full-time boarders, though weekly & part-time boarders are welcomed; these span on-site fun such as water polo, rounders and Masterchef. Sunday trips have included theatre trips, Brighton Park and ice skating at Canary Wharf.

There are plenty of activities offered through their Enrichment Curriculum, including the chance to learn Italian, coding, and chess. Specialist teachers are enlisted for Gymnastics, Performing Arts/ LAMDA and Mandarin, amongst others. The school is non-academically selective, and reflects their curriculum with the National Curriculum until the end of Year 6. For Years 7 & 8, Godstowe enhances this with attention to the Common Entrance (CE) and relevant Scholarship syllabus requirements. Leavers typically progress onto schools such as Benenden, Cheltenham Ladies’, Rugby, Stowe and Wycombe Abbey, with many leavers having been awarded scholarships following their CE exams.
