Eton is the largest boarding school in England. It is situated in Windsor (local authority Windsor and Maidenhead). It is an independent school for boys aged 13 to 18. It has more than 1,300 pupils with about 540 in the sixth form. The religion is Church of England, fees somewhere around £48,501 per annum, but these depend on the age of the child, increasing as he becomes older. A place at Eton is highly prized, only one in five applicants is successful. In the academic year 2020/21 19% of boys received help with fees and 90 boys paid no fees at all.

Eton aims to foster independent thought and the pursuit of excellence. They say that “Boys learn as much beyond the classroom as within it”. It is rich in resources, providing a wide range of outlets for each boy’s individual interests. It is good for sport and class sizes are small. There are about 1,000 staff, 250 teaching staff and 750 support staff. It provides an exciting, stimulating and caring environment designed to bring out the best in each boy including those with disabilities or special educational needs.
