106 Piccadilly, the Grade 1 listed building in which Eaton Square School operates, has an incredibly rich history; originally built in 1761 for Sir Hugh Hunlock, it has been enjoyed by various owners until the eventual proprietorship of St James’s Club 1868, ending in 1978. The current Eaton Square Senior School, opened in 2017, certainly retains most of its 18th century features throughout. Students number over 300, and the School spans five storeys of the Mayfair building. The School is co-educational, and accommodates students aged 11-18. Headmaster Dr Adrian Rainbow asserts their philosophy of education as ‘based on a holistic, transformative, all-rounded approach’, which allows students to ‘not only navigate the 21st Century, but to lead others and enact positive change.’ ‘Wellbeing’ is timetabled into the students’ schedules, with teachers and visiting speakers delivering lessons and providing resources to improve students ‘to lead healthy and responsible lives.’ The Sixth Form is located in a different site at Eccleston Square, although not far from the main site.

Admission is dependent on results from a CAT4 or ISEB Test (11+ entry only), and an interview with a member of the senior team. For Sixth Form applicants, predicted grades and an interview are taken into consideration. The School offers an entire Learning Enrichment department, specifically catered for SEN students, or those with English as a second language, and is therefore very accommodating for ‘all students who have particular abilities or strengths’. The Sixth Form is credited with a Preparation for Life program alongside their academic provisions, and students are offered the chance to take a short study skills programme for the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). Its central and well-connected location allows students many opportunities; to take their sports to the Park, their history to the museums, and their drama to the theatres: ‘London is truly our classroom’.
