Eaton Square School, founded in 1981 and situated in central London, believes that ‘futures are defined by beginnings’ and aims to draw out ‘the individual spirit, imagination and organic energy of each child, channelling their potential into purpose and direction.’ Prep School students venture to the Science Museum, British Museum, and National Gallery – amongst other nearby cultural attractions – allowing a more in-depth cultural and educational experience with their school life. It is in the Top 3 ISA (Independent Schools Association) Schools 2021 for its commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. The Prep School is TEDX accredited, and boasts impressive success in their sports, whilst valuing their students’ creative self-expression in the Arts.

The Nursery is divided into ‘The Greenhouse’ for 2-3 year olds, ‘The Beehive and Treetop’ for 3-4 year olds, and, launching in September 2023, ‘The Nest’ for 2-4 year olds. Each group interior space respectively boasts an educational indoor treehouse, a giant beehive and a nest, providing the children with an exciting and interactive environment in which to develop. There are daily walks to the park, music, swimming, games and even mindfulness activities; all led by specialist teachers for their enrichment. The nurseries are located in close proximity to Eccleston Square, and offer places on a ‘first-come first-served’ basis; as such, places are highly sought after, and the school recommends Early Registration (even as early as from birth) as being essential to securing a Nursery School placement. Nursery children then have priority access to the Prep School with an informal, play-based assessment. Joining the Prep School in Reception (ages 4-5) from external nurseries, comprises attendance at a similarly informal morning, alongside a reference and/or report from the child’s current Nursery. For ages 5-10 and onwards, there is a formal application process involving a CAT4 test and interview with the Head or Principal.

Following their 11+ assessment, Year 6 Eaton Square School students have been awarded offers and scholarships from schools such as Eton, Westminster, Harrow, Dulwich, Queen’s College, Alleyn’s and Cheltenham Ladies College – certainly demonstrating their academic strength. There are many students with SEN requirements, and therefore receive additional specialist help, which is very well provided. There is a full-time SENCo, (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) behind whom lies a highly experienced learning enrichment team; they lead either individual or group sessions with the students. The Prep School carefully nurtures a ‘happy, positive atmosphere where children achieve exceptional results.’
