Christ Church Cathedral School (CCCS) is an independent day school for boys aged 3-13, encompassing Nursery, Pre-Prep and Preparatory Schools. The school is immediately adjacent to Christ Church College, part of the University of Oxford, as well as museums and other enriching locations such as the Natural History Museum, the Ashmolean, and the Botanical Gardens.

CCCS’s nursery accommodates both girls and boys aged 3-4. Residing in a 16th-century building, nursery students enjoy Woodland School, where they take nature lessons, a weekly yoga session, and academically, they follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.

Pre-Prep pupils, in Reception, Year1 and Year 2, are located in the heart of the school. They enjoy one Physical Education (PE) lesson per week, and one Games session. The school’s main sports are Rugby, Football, Cricket and Hockey, all of which are taught by specialist teachers.

From Year 3, the school implements extra-curricular activities within the daily timetable instead of being after school. This allows day students and choristers to more easily participate. Prep students are taught from Year 5 by specialist teachers in all subject areas. In the final two years, Years 7 & 8, boys are given more responsibility with some receiving prefect roles. In preparation for their various senior schools (many of which will be full boarding), boys can enjoy flexi boarding at CCCS.

There are four boarding places in each year group for Cathedral Choristers aged 8-13. Admission to CCCS is academically selective, and competitive, with priority admission given to siblings. Popular destinations for boys leaving Christ Church Cathedral School include prestigious local schools such as Magdalen College School, Abingdon and St Edward’s, and leading boarding schools across the country, such as Winchester, Eton and Harrow.
