Founded in 1611, the historic Charterhouse is located in Godalming, Surrey, under an hour from London. Formed of 940 pupils, around 398 of which are in sixth form, Charterhouse is a co-educational school for ages 13-18. It is an independent day and boarding school set across 250 acres of land, boasting excellent facilities for music, art, and the theatre. It is extensively equipped for sports, including an athletics stadium, sports centre, 24 tennis courts, and a 9-hole golf course. Football was first developed at the school (alongside Westminster), and this legacy is proudly displayed in their 15 football pitches.

Charterhouse School champions values of kindness and philanthropy, with the motto of Deo Dante Dedi, or ‘God having given, I gave’. It follows the Anglican religion, and fosters inclusivity and equality with societies such as the Unity Society, the LGBTQ+ Pride Society and Feminism Society. Their SEN provision caters for those with ASD, Aspergers, and ADHD. The School promotes a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment in which students are encouraged to contribute to the life of the school in academics, the arts, sports, and community.

Charterhouse nurtures academic rigour, independent learning, and commitment to the service of others, seeking to equip its students with an all-rounded education which they believe ‘endures beyond examinations’. For pupils entering Years 9 and 12, there are a limited number of bursaries. In the Sixth Form, students can study either A-Level courses, or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.
