This nursery is set in an architecturally beautiful building in The Church of the Annunciation. The interior was newly refurbished in November 2018 when the nursery opened. The rooms have glass panelling that ensures all the children can see and be seen, beyond the room they are in. One drawback is that the nursery is on the basement floor, however they have managed the space very well and use lighting aesthetically to create a bright, warm and cheerful environment. Safeguarding each child is of paramount importance to the manager and the team. The light, spacious setting lends its self to this perfectly, as everyone is visible and the children are able to build strong bonds with the whole staff team as well as their key person which in turn leads to them feeling safe, secure and comfortable and supports them to be confident learners. The nursery has installed a state- of-the-art security system to help keep children safe, video entry on the main door and biometric fingerprint entry into the areas where children play. The children do everything in the same room: Sleeping, eating and playing. There is no set timetable and staff will follow the parents’ routine from home. The nursery has key access to the nearby Portman Square Gardens and the children will go there for regular play times. Other outings like museum, park and zoo visits are planned for the near future. There is a very unique but child-friendly schedule of the nursery: There are no regular, daily lessons, however, the nursery will book in an extra-curriculum activity teacher (for example: yoga, ballet, tennis, football, cooking, French, music etc) for about 3 months and all children can try out and learn that activity every day for those 3 months. The nursery has facilities for parents and staff in a parent/staff lounge that offers free tea & coffee and free, secure WIFI so parents can sit and relax whilst settling their children or just finish off sending emails at the end of a day before collecting their child from the care of their keyperson.
