Expert Subject and Exam Board Specific Tutors for GCSE/IGCSE Exams

In our experience, success in GCSE/IGCSE exams depends on a number of factors. Tackling areas of weakness, understanding strengths, learning how to approach questions and maximise marks – essentially, exam technique! By understanding your child’s learning style and specific requirements, we are able to introduce an expert GCSE tutor who will meet those needs with expert tuition.

Whether your child is at the start of Key Stage 4, or is in need of last-minute assistance as they revise for forthcoming exams, we’ll place a tutor who inspires confidence.

The government has radically changed the grading scheme for GCSE’s, replacing the grades U-A with numbers 1-9. On the new scale, 9 is slightly better than an A*. The reason for doing this was to provide schools and universities with a more accurate overview of a student’s ability. It also followed years of grade deflation which resulted in too many GCSE students achieving A* grades. You can hear more on this topic by listening to a Radio 4 interview  featuring our Director, Nathaniel McCullagh. If you are confused about what these changes mean for your son or daughter, please feel free to contact us.

When should I start GCSE Preparation?

GCSE/IGCSE tuition can be delivered weekly over a longer term, or as a short-term intensive course to help with exam revision. After an initial assessment, the tutor will build knowledge of the subject and provide valuable assistance with time management and exam skills. By using a joined-up, holistic approach to homework, coursework and revision, the GCSE tutor will help the student achieve their desired goals.

What should I look for in a GCSE Tutor?

It is important that the tutor you choose is familiar with the appropriate exam board(s) your son or daughter is following. We introduce tutors who are exam board specific, and cover GCSE/IGCSE exam criteria for AQA, OCR, EDEXCEL, SALTERS and a range of alternative exam boards. Additionally, these GCSE tutors are able to provide assistance with an exhaustive range of subjects, including Maths, English and The Sciences.

Alternatively, if you already have your GCSE results and are looking for help with the next steps, you might find our ‘Guide to GCSE results day” helpful.

Do I need to do anything specific for IGCSE preparation?

The IGCSE is more difficult and requires a slightly different approach to the regular GCSE. For this reason, we advise parents to contact us about IGCSE preparation, so that we can work out how best to advise them.
