Preparing travelling twins for school in Germany
Background
Trilingual twins (9) travelling through Asia and South Africa required an academically robust programme aligned to Swiss expectations, with the long-term goal of Gymnasium placement.
SLT’s Approach
A qualified bilingual (English/German) educator delivered an adaptable programme combining in-person, online and travel-based learning. Curriculum objectives remained consistent across locations; language fluency was protected; and the programme retained flexibility to introduce additional specialist support if needed for complex language teaching.
Results
The twins progressed at or above age level, preserved multilingual ability, and kept long-term school placement options open across jurisdictions.
Can we provide a programme like this for your family?
Yes. Most of our programmes begin with a thoughtful discussion about what you need right now, what you want to achieve long term, and what success looks like for your child. We then propose a structure, a timetable, an estimated budget and realistic outcomes - and we refine it with you before anything begins.
What education systems can we provide tuition for?
Tutors are proficient in a wide range of educational systems and curricula, including the British, American, IB, and other international programmes. We tailor our tutoring to align with your child's specific educational needs and goals.
Can tutors travel with you or teach online when you relocate?
Yes. Many of our tutors teach primarily in the UK and may not travel for extended periods. However, we also place residential tutors who can travel with a family and deliver home schooling wherever you are, for short or long-term placements. We can also combine in-person teaching with online continuity when schedules change
What safeguarding and vetting do we carry out for tutors?
Every tutor undergoes rigorous vetting before being introduced to a family. This includes enhanced background checks, detailed reference verification and in-depth interviews from senior team members. Our investigations are focused not only on academic ability, but also on judgement, emotional intelligence and professionalism. For residential and international placements, we apply an additional layer of scrutiny to ensure suitability for close-proximity working and travel.
Do we work alongside schools and existing teachers?
Yes, we can run fully aligned with the school where helpful. Some programmes run independently; others are closely aligned with a school’s curriculum, set texts and coursework - particularly where a return to school is planned. We are used to operating in a joined-up way with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams.
Can we combine cultural experiences with curriculum objectives?
Absolutely. Home schooling is uniquely well suited to “real-world” learning. Theatre, galleries, historic sites and local culture can be integrated into English, history, geography, languages and even science — making learning more memorable and often more enjoyable, without sacrificing rigour.
How do we keep learning consistent during frequent travel?
We protect consistency through careful planning. Tutors map the curriculum in advance, maintain a predictable rhythm of sessions, and build in flexibility for travel changes. When plans shift, we adjust the timetable without losing momentum.
