Nathaniel was educated in at Durham University and the University of Southern California. As a private tutor, he worked with children of a wide range of ages and abilities, from Eton scholars to children facing challenges such as dyspraxia and Aspergers syndrome. He believes passionately in the effectiveness of carefully managed one-to-one tuition. Nathaniel now focuses on advising parents and working with head teachers and other educationalists in the UK and overseas. He also sits on the Tutors Association panel for Continuing Professional Development and is a key supporter of the development of enhanced standards in private tuition.

Sophie Taylor Barthorpe joined Simply Learning Tuition in 2014 and manages our full-time Home Schooling and International Placements. She is also our principal University Admissions Consultant. She holds an English Literature degree and a Masters in Arts and Heritage Management. Sophie comes from a family of educationalists: her mother ran the nursery at the Household Cavalry and has been an Ofsted schools inspector and her father was a University lecturer. During her early education Sophie was supported by private tutors, and she appreciates how effective tuition can be for results, confidence and wellbeing.

Katie joined Simply Learning Tuition in 2011 and leads our Educational Consultancy service. Katie was educated at the British School in the Netherlands, the University of Manchester and later at the University of Melbourne and started her distinguished career in education as a private tutor. As a result, she understands first hand the amazing impact tuition can have on a child’s confidence and drive to succeed. In her work as a consultant, Katie has helped families gain places in leading British selective schools and Russell Group universities, including Oxford and Cambridge.
